How to change permissions for my second device(not account)

Hi @madinaarbuzi, thanks for reaching out!

Could you please clarify a few details so I can better understand your concern?

  • Are you referring to Miro permissions (like board access or sharing settings), or are you trying to change login/device access permissions?

  • When you say “second device,” do you mean you’re logged into the same Miro account on another device (e.g., laptop and tablet), or is it a different Miro account on that device?

  • What specific action are you trying to perform — for example, edit, view, or share boards from your second device?

  • If you’re receiving any error or permission message, could you describe what it says (or share a screenshot of it, without personal info)?

Once I have that information, I’ll be able to guide you through the correct steps or escalate it needs information from the backend.

1) the first one

2) the same miro account

3) movement of objects

4) I didn't receive it. I don't know how to change the permission, so I asked the question

@madinaarbuzi I suspect that something could be lost in translation, so let me clarify something and ask a few questions.

You started by saying:

How to change permissions for my second device(not account)

And when asked this by @EcaWhat specific action are you trying to perform — for example, edit, view, or share boards from your second device?

You replied:

movement of objects

Permissions in Miro follow the board’s sharing settings—not devices—so access can be limited to team members or, if the board is set to public, opened so anyone with the link can edit—no account required.

With that being said, perhaps you can outline your scenario, e.g.,:

  • What device/OS/client are you able to move objects from? (e.g., Windows laptop using a browser).
  • What device/OS/client are you unable to move objects from?
    • On this other device, are you signing in with the same account as the device that you are able to move objects from?
    • Are you the board owner of the board that you cannot move objects on?
    • Does this happen with all boards or just one?

I can move objects on my both devices(OC - Windows; tablet). On the tablet i don't want to be able move objects

@madinaarbuzi

On the tablet i don't want to be able move objects

I have wanted to do this myself before. Unfortunately, there is no way for a board owner to put a board into a view-only state—there is Wish List post that you may want to upvote:

https://community.miro.com/ideas/board-view-only-view-toggle-9364

There are, however, a few workarounds (experience will vary depending on your plan type):

  1. If you set the board’s public, i.e., Anyone with the link access to view, and sign out of the Miro table app, it may open in the app as view-only. However, I tested this with both the tablet and mobile app on Android and the apps were signing me to sign in—your experience may be different on iOS.
  2. Create a Free account that you can sign in to Miro from your tablet and set the sound board’s public access to view-only. Or, you could add the new free account user as a team member for free (if you are using a Free Plan) or for free as a Guest viewer if you are on a paid subscription.

Hopefully Miro will add a view-only feature soon.
