Restoring Old Color to Boards

I use Miro to build lesson plans and documents for my classes. For the last 8 years I have used a specific color palette from the color picker. With the update to the color picker ALL of the documents, posters, and lesson plans have had their colors changed. While I could go individually change the color using the provided hex codes, that’s 100s of color changes. Is there any way to change ALL of a specific color to the old one? For example, is it possible to change all the new light blue back to purple at once on a board?

Color coding is a key part of my organization and for my students, having all the colors change is very problematic. Thanks for any help!

Hi @Ruth Doherty

Thanks for reaching out!

We’re really sorry for the disruption these color changes have caused and understand how frustrating this must be.

We've rolled out an update to ensure that existing content using the old default colors from the global color picker remains unchanged. Moving forward, the new default colors will only apply to newly created content, while custom and brand colors will stay the same. We've also fixed a bug that may have caused unintended changes to brand colors.

Your old content should not have changed to the new colors. Could you confirm if any previously created content is still displaying new colors? If so, this isn’t expected behavior, and we may need to escalate this to our engineering team.

We really appreciate you bringing this to our attention—it helps us improve Miro for everyone. 💛

Hi @Ruth Doherty  I also use Miro for my teaching - and I was a bit surprised when I went to select a color and the palette had changed . . . but . . . my existing slides still have the same colors. In other words, anything I created earlier still has that same color.

I hope someone has some ideas because “backwards compatibility” is something that Miro does very well, and usually when they bring in new features the old ones don’t suddenly stop working.

GOOD LUCK! Ken

If I used a color I had created (not one of the top 12/16 that are in the palette) then it stayed, but not if I used the predefined set. Thanks for the input!

Thanks @Ruth Doherty  - hmmmm . . . . still seems a bit strange because I was using a mixture of both but primarily my own colors - so maybe that is why I haven’t noticed anything. For example, I really liked the old red - it was pretty much as red as red can get. The new red just seems a bit faded to me.

hm - it seems that miro change the colours on an existing board to the new scheme. I wanted to update a few postits and the jpeg looks different to the one I did two weeks ago. Really disappointing. Now I will have to update all the other slides too to create a uniform look. And personally, I don’t like the new colours.

Any chance to operate Miro in legacy mode and NOT have the new colour scheme?
