Hey @Eca sorry to say that I'm also experiencing this issue still, just starting to experiment with using layered mind maps and I'm finding that nodes i either create in, or move into, layers other than default, are going back into the default layer - this seems to happen as a result of moving/collapsing nodes in the map.
Thank you @Sandy Reynolds-Mckay for letting me know. I have your case converted into a support ticket so the team will be aware of this. One of them will reach out to you soon.
Could you please send the exact steps for merging content onto a single Layer? This is not working in my file as the instructions are greyed out for moving the content to a single or default layer.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to follow up with an update—Miro's development team has now fixed the issue with moving objects added to layers!
Sadly this is still an issue for me.
Creating objects on Default, and dragging them on-top of a frame that is on a locked background layer, will instantly move that object to the background layer and lock it.

Same for me. Utterly annoying :(
Same here. Every time I edit anything, if it’s not in the “Background Layer,” it gets moved to that layer after the edit.
Firefox on Mac OS Sequoia.
unfortunaletly this behaviour is really much like a beta-beta-beta.
I have to 100% reiterate this statement. I want to like Miro so badly, but your programming is absolutely terrible. For a program that is meant to allow users to quickly and easily manipulate VISUAL objects, what you’ve built is actually pretty bad at doing many of the things you would absolutely take for granted in any other program. Miro does not have image/group mirroring. MS Paint figured that out 40 years ago and your visual program doesn’t even allow for mirroring? Your layers are so badly programmed as to be COMPLETELY unusable. I’ve been a tester and programmer myself, and I would be utterly ashamed to release code/product that is this obviously, painfully, risibly buggy. Stop converting these comments into service tickets. Nobody wants to deal with your customer support team. They just want your product to do the most basic of tasks, properly, instead of trying to hack your way around how poorly it was constructed.
Do you do UAT on any of your products? In a number of browsers/environments? The fact that this and other GLARING problems in your most basic of functions makes me think you don’t actually bother doing the most baseline of due diligence with your product, and are perfectly happy to push bad product.
