Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with the YouTube video embedding feature in Miro. Normally, when I copy and paste a YouTube link into the Miro board, the video player appears automatically. However, as of today, this function has stopped working.

Now, when I paste a YouTube link, it only shows up as a regular link with a thumbnail image, not as an embedded video player. Strangely, the YouTube videos I previously inserted are still displayed correctly and work as expected.

I’ve tried refreshing the page and using different YouTube links, browsers, and devices, but the issue persists

Could you please help me resolve this?

HI @Alexander18218

Thanks for the detailed report — I just tested this on my end, and YouTube video links are embedding correctly in the board as expected. When I paste a standard YouTube URL, it automatically shows as an embedded player, not just a link with a thumbnail.

Since you're still seeing the issue, could you try the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  1. Clear your browser cache and refresh the board

  2. Try pasting the link into a brand new board

  3. Test using incognito/private mode in your browser

  4. Confirm that the link you're pasting is a standard youtube.com/watch?v=... format (not a shortened or playlist link)

Also, if possible, could you record a quick screen video showing how you're pasting the link and what appears on your board? That will help us see if there’s something specific causing the issue.

Let us know how it goes — happy to keep digging with you.

Hello,

I’ve already followed all the troubleshooting steps you’ve suggested (refreshing, different links, clearing cache, different browsers, etc.) but the problem persists.

It’s very frustrating that this issue has been reported by many users, and yet it seems like nothing has been done. People just keep receiving the same copy-paste answers that don’t actually resolve the problem.

I copied the link the same way I always have. Look here.

Here is another way:

These are the links I used:

Hey.

A while ago I ran into the same issue. As a workaround, I was using the ‘copy embed code’ from youtube. But it was a frustrating ‘pipeline’ - to go through extra menus to just drop a link on the board.

And just so you know, today it fixed itself - as soon as I switched from Free to Starter. I wanted to test hypothesis that it might be related to the subscription type, and it turned out to be true. After I’ve upgraded the subscription, I can paste the youtube links on the board in one click once again.

But. it doesn’t work exactly how it used to. It is pasted as an embedded video, which preserves its progress even if you move the focus away from the widget. It’s good for some use-cases, but I really liked how it used to work before (INCLUDING ON FREE SUBSCRIPTION) — when the video starts from the start each time you move focus to it. It was handy for my needs.

And so now, I can’t have this functionality (even though the old-style widgets that were posted before still work), and I have to pay for the basic QoL (pasting the link directly, instead of going through the embedded code hurdle), which used to work before.

And the customer service appears to be clueless about this one for a few months now.

Hi. Have the same problem with YouTube player. It stopped working as it used to and now is added to the board as a regular link. I have a Starter plan. Don’t know if this matters. But I can’t understand how to fix this. Moreover the new-style embed video, which are created with Embed Iframe Code start playing as soon as I open the board. I can’t imagine what sound chaos will start when I add more embed youtube widgets.
