I click p as a shortcut, but this happens even when I click the icon for the pen. It always returns to default and its annoying, and whenever I reload the grid goes back to default too. Glitch, bug?

That’s definitely not expected behavior. In most cases, this happens due to temporary glitches or settings not being saved properly (often related to cache, browser state, or session issues).
You can try the following:
- Refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) the board/browser
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Try a different browser or the Miro desktop app
- Check if it happens on all boards or just one
- Make sure your browser is up to date
