Hi

Sometimes when I am writing on a board, the pencil suddenly stops writing. Earlier I thought that it was because of the pencil’s low battery because when I took another pencil, I was able to continue writing (maybe the correct term is ‘stylus’ instead of pencil?).

But today one of my pupils had the same problem on her iPad. Writing in GoodNotes worked fine though. So we used an alternative for Miro and worked there.

Do you know that problem?

Hi @OleZ, thanks for raising this!

We’ve seen some reports where stylus input (Apple Pencil or similar) can intermittently stop responding in the Miro app, even though it works fine in other apps like GoodNotes. A few things you can try:

  • Restart the Miro app and reopen the board — this often restores stylus input.

  • Update the Miro app to the latest version from the App Store (we regularly release fixes for iPad + Apple Pencil compatibility).

  • Check iOS/iPadOS version and install any available updates.

  • If possible, test with touch input (finger) when the pencil stops working — this helps confirm if it’s only the stylus affected.

  • If the issue repeats, could you let us know:

    • Your iPad model + iOS/iPadOS version

    • Miro app version

    • Whether the issue happens only in certain boards or all boards

This info will help our team investigate further.

Hi,

I do not use the app but instead open the boards in a browser (Safari).

Hi @OleZ , thanks for clarifying that you’re using Safari rather than the Miro app.

Stylus (Apple Pencil) behavior in browsers can sometimes differ from the app. Could you share which iPad model and iPadOS version you’re on? Also, does the issue occur only in Safari, or have you had a chance to test in another browser (like Chrome on iPad) to compare?

This detail will help us understand if it’s browser-specific or a broader issue.

It’s an iPad Pro 11, iOS is 18.3.1

I only have Safari as a browser.
