We want to improve our PI planning by having 1 board that contains the entire planning of every team. I am worried this is going to become extremely messy as their will be around 40 features with arrows across teams and features. So I want to be able to “filter” this by teams.

For indication, this is the board/template thing we're talking about. Although this is only an pretty empty example of such.

I've tried to put different teams on different layers, but hiding a layer hides it for everyone. And the diagram wouldn't automatically adjust to new issues do to technically the items aren't on the board itself as they are on different layers.

I haven't found a way to just hide objects based on a group or category.

Something like mirroring a team version into a shared version could be okay, but doesn't seem to be possible either.

Are there any other ways to make 6 teams work on 1 board, without it becoming a mess.

HI @e.dijsselbloem

Thanks for raising this — planning across multiple teams on a single board can definitely get hard to manage as complexity grows.

Here are a few ways teams make this work more smoothly in Miro:

  1. Use frames per team
Give each team their own frame with the same sprint structure. This helps keep work visually separated and easier to navigate.
  2. Color-code by team
Apply consistent colors to cards, stickies, and connectors per team. It makes it much easier to scan and follow what's relevant.
  3. Tag or label items
Use short tags or emojis (like 🚀 or 🔴) on each card so you can quickly filter using the search bar. This helps with focus during team-specific reviews.
  4. Move dependencies into a separate frame
Instead of drawing arrows across the entire board, you can map out dependencies in a dedicated space. It keeps the main sprint planning view cleaner.
  5. Layers are currently shared
You're right — hiding a layer hides it for everyone. There's no way yet to filter by team or category that only affects your view.
  6. Consider sub-boards with Sync Areas
If you're on Business or Enterprise, teams can work in separate boards and mirror key features into a shared PI board using Sync Areas. This keeps everything connected but manageable.

Hope this helps!
