Hello,

One of my miroboards is missing. I am the owner and I definitely didn't delete it. I have a link for the board because I sent it into a work group chat a while ago, but I also cannot access it via the link. It is like it never existed. I use the free version of Miro, so I don't have access to my trash bin where the deleted boards are in (which I want to critique, it is not nice to make the trash only accessible if you pay!!!). Did someone have a similar issue? The missing board is pretty important to me, I hope it can be restored. Thanks for any help.

@aliza A common scenario – and one that sounds like yours – is this:

  1. Someone was invited to collaborate on a board in someone else’s Miro team – free or paid subscription (but usually free).
  2. Once the invitee joins the team, they are a full member and create boards – so they do.
  3. Later, the owner of the team (i.e., the Team Admin – or another Admin, because their can be more than one) removes the person from the team as they have been creating boards and have pushed the team over the 3-editable board limit).
  4. The next time the person who created the board tries to access it, it either shows a deleted/cannot be found message (honestly, I have not have enough insights into all the conditions in which various messages are shown).

If you created the board, then only you (i.e., the board owner) can delete the board – aside from an admin removing you from the team (at which point the admin assumes ownership of the content of the user being removed). And if you are certain that you are signed into Miro using the same account/email address that you were at the time you created the board, then the only explanation here is that you were removed from the team where the board resided.

As for the trash bin, you would only be able to see boards that you deleted when you were the owner, so, for example, if a team admin removed you from the team and deleted the board, only the admin would be able to see the board in the trash can – even if they deleted you and then re-added you to the team. As for viewing the trash can, I’ll share this tidbit while it still works: You can open it using this link → https://miro.com/app/dashboard/trash/

In summary, if you are signed in to Miro under the account that you used to created the board, and you cannot access it, then you were removed from the team and for privacy and security purposes, Miro will not be able to help you here as everything is working as expected (i.e., it is not for Miro to question the team admin as to why they removed you and then override that decision and transfer ownership of the board back to you).

I would suggest that you review past emails for keywords like “has invited you to a team in Miro” or from the email address “invites@notification.miro.com”, or even the first emails you have with the word “miro” and see if you can find who invited you, which may help you figure out where the board may be.
