Board was built with closer to 1-10% zoom and they are large expansive boards 2 or 3 years ago. I need to use these boards again and want to know if there is a way to resize the entire board to relate to a 40-100% zoom as default.
I tried making a new board and copying some of the built parts piece by piece and pasting them in the new board but they won't size up successfully. It's going to be a headache to find the original graphics to build the entire board from scratch.  Is it possible to retrofit the board by changing the magnification without rebuilding from scratch and original image sources?

Hi @Isobel Davis

I guess I am having a bit of a hard time understanding the your challenge.

You can naturally select all items in your board and then re-size them by just dragging on the little dots at the edges.  If you try to resize everything to make them smaller, of course some things may get ugly: font sizes = 2 pts, lines that look hugely thick.  If you try to resize everything to make them bigger, could also be a few problems, like lines that look too thin.

Is that what is happening?

Cheers, Ken

Thanks for a response. There is still a problem. You gave me the confidence to try again. After hitting “V”, I used command+A and it selected everything. So glad there is a keyboard command for that.  I can see how to move everything in sync, but sizing is another problem. There are no dots to grab on the corners to click and drag to a smaller size. Each object has a bounding box, but not corner dot to grab. They are sized fine in relationship to each other so I want to size smaller universally. I’d like to be able to zoom out so I need to have them size down.

Since I cannot zoom out enough to see all objects on my board it’s difficult. It sits at 1% with only a partial view, and should be 40-100%.  Perhaps it will work if I do a bit at a time. But it is a complex board.

Maybe there is still an easy solution but haven’t found it yet.

Any further thoughts anyone? Thank you!!!

HI @Isobel Davis

Not sure if this helps, but boxes without resizing corners do appear when objects are locked. For example, here is a screenshot from a board in which I selected everything with CTRL-A, then locked it, so you can see bounding boxes but without resize corners:

Things can get really messy when you have a combination of objects, some of them locked and some of them not locked. It’s pretty easy to see if something is locked because if you click on that object, a little control will come up that looks like this:

Now, if you don’t own the board and someone else did the locking, then your pretty out of luck.

Not sure if that helps you one step further?

Good troubleshoot. I own and built the original board and definitely some things are locked. With 322 objects, I would have lots of work to unlock across the board. Perhaps I can unlock universally.

It sounds like I can resize everything universally if I select all, but I can’t have anything locked for it to work. I’ll play around with this.

Big thanks!

@Isobel Davis - Right click anywhere on the board and Unlock all.

@Kenneth Ritley @Robert Johnson

Question is: how can I size everything universally? Do I have to try to make a frame to fit the entire board in order to size universally? The dots don’t show up for sizing even though I Unlocked all.

Long delay here as I did not get back to this project until now. I am wanting to know how to resize all. The instructions above said to grab the corner dot to resize. I want to do that universally because it says I have over 700 objects. Can’t do it individually.

We thought that the dots weren’t showing up because some items were locked and others weren’t. I went ahead and unlocked everything. “Right click anywhere on the board and Unlock all.” I also ungrouped everything in case that matters. The sizing dot on the corner does not show up in the corners anywhere I can see when “all are selected” and only shows up when I have one item selected.

Thank you thank you thank you

Hi @Isobel Davis

Generally speaking, if you are talking about shapes like circles, you don’t need a frame to resize them - and in fact a frame won’t do you much good anyway. But you can just SELECT all the times (maybe by dragging the mouse over them) - then you’ll see a big box, and you can re-size that box and all the objects in that box that CAN be resized WILL be resized.

Sounds like you have very, very tiny dots!

GOOD LUCK!

@Kenneth

So… are you saying that the dots are there on the corners but I just can't see them? I see the dot fine if I select one object. When I select all I see no dot. I can select the corner and try to resize, but no dot and it appears to just be moving the mass rather than resizing. For some reason the resizing bounding box is not showing up, or at least no dots. Glad I don’t have to put everything in a frame.

I am so grateful for your response. Can you think of further troubleshooting I can do to solve this? I’m stumped. I’m wondering if there is a way to ask Miro tech support. Wondering how I submit to them.

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

PS I did unlock all

@Isobel Davis - There are some items, even when not locked, that may not be resizable on all planes, i.e., horizontal or vertical (or both). For example, a hidden frame will block the resizing from a corner white dot:

Thanks so much @Robert Johnson Hidden frame, okay, I can check that. but I rarely hide frames unless I have an event. I do not get the dot that you have in your video.

You mentioned the hide frame as a for instance. Do you have any other things? Will it prevent the “select all” from resizing universally?

I had another idea. I have some thought bubbles from other on the board. I will copy and delete those. Do you think that might be inhibiting the drag-sizing? Things are really huge. You can’t see anything at 1%. it is >1% I am operating. I have 2 boards that would take a long time to rebuild that both need to exist in a better ratio space. Hope to solve this.
I due have a paid subscription.  I can try tech support. Maybe I can find someone to loo at the boards.

I’m not sure. Even for myself, it would be a process of elimination to find the root cause.

Please do let us what you find out 😀

@Robert Johnson  @Kenneth Ritley  fixed! Happily tweaking things now.

Not sure what fixed it but the drag-sizing bounding box is showing now. It showed up on another board. I followed some of the bug testing steps. I tried a different browser and it works. I made a copy and opened on the original browser and it now works. I had gone beyond all the corners but the bounding box really didn’t seem to be there until I switched browsers, or made a copy. It really wasn't there before.

thank you both!
