I’m trying out the new timeline builder, but is almost not usable as it is so slow. Anyone else who had the chance to try it out where it is working?

Same for me. Impossible to use. Though it looks very promising!

Any feedback Miro? 😅

Hi @RasmusPedersen and @Maarten Van den Bergh!

Sorry for taking this long to address your question. Are you referring to the timeline builder template?

Or the Timeline app?

I tried the Timeline app and I’m pleased to share that I didn’t experience any slowness while using it!

Could you please share the following:

  • in what device are you trying to use the Timeline app or Timeline Builder template?
  • Is that in a desktop app or browser?
  • Have you tried using the Timeline app or Timeline Builder template in other board as well or is the issue only happening on one board?

Looking forward to your responses!

Hi Eca,

It is the Timeline app and I’m using the Microsoft Edge browser for Miro. I have used it in the multiple boards, and just made a new test in a new and empty board. It is still super slow and will often take a couple of seconds before it reacts to any change to the timeline. When adding in the timeline, it is the whole board that gets slow in reaction time, and if I remove the timeline the whole board goes back to normal reaction time.

I did make a recording, but unfortunately I do not have the option convert it to a GIF on my work computer.

Best regards,

Rasmus

When we are anyway on the subject of the Timeline app, I have two recommendations/requests.

I would love it if you added months as well for date sequence 😍

Also if the records could have the same functionality as kanban tasks (adding a persons, tags, notes etc), that would be amazing!

I look very much forward to being able to utilize the Timeline App 🤗

Hi @RasmusPedersen

Thanks for the detailed update!

Tried it in Microsoft Edge and was able to use the Timeline app smoothly.

Just a quick note: the maximum number of objects that can be added to a board is 100,000, but performance can start to slow down once you reach around 1,000 objects. For the best experience, it's recommended to keep the number of objects below 5,000. Feel free to visit this article: How to improve board performance.

If you're still facing issues on lighter boards, feel free to share more details, and we can further investigate!

You can try downloading the ScreenToGIF app to record your screen and auto convert it into GIF. You can save the video to your device them drag the copy here in the comment.

As for your request, kindly upvote and comment on this thread - https://community.miro.com/ideas/new-timeline-setting-for-month-and-quarterly-view-17178. This will help our developers prioritize requests and know more about how it can benefit you.

Hi @Eca,

The only object in the board I’m trying in out in is the Timeline App, so that shouldn’t be issue.

Unfortunately I’m on work laptop, where we have very strict rules for what we can and can’t use/download, so I will not be able to use ScreenToGIF.

I will try out the Timeline App on my personal laptop and see if I have the same challenges.

Thanks for sharing the thread. I have made sure to upvote it 😊

Hi @RasmusPedersen,

Thanks for the update and for upvoting the feature request! 😊

Given that the only object on your board is the Timeline App, it does seem unusual that it's causing slowness. Trying it out on your personal laptop sounds like a great next step! That way, we can rule out any work-related restrictions or configurations that might be affecting performance.

If the issue persists on your personal device, please let me know, and I'll reach out to the team internally to investigate further.

Thanks again for your patience!

Hi @Eca,

I tried on my personal laptop, and had no issues with Timeline App.

I will asked our internal IT about issue.

Hi @RasmusPedersen,

Happy to hear there’s no issue on your personal laptop!

Hopefully your IT Admins can help with the browser issue.
