I previously logged into Miro using links that Miro sent me after entering my e-mail. Today it prompted me to create a password. Once I set up the password, it asked me to create a new team. Now I can only access that Team and my previous boards are gone.

I have a link to a board I recently created; however, when I try to access it tells me that someone else (my name) owns the board and sends a access request. However, I never received the access request via e-mail. Any idea how to resolve this?

Hi @Margaret Hung Thanks for reaching out — it sounds like you've accidentally created a new Miro account under the same email, which is why you're seeing a different team and can't access your previous boards.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Check for multiple accounts
Try logging out of Miro, then log back in using the original method (email link login). You might have created a second account without realizing.

  2. Try different login options
If you used Google, Microsoft, or SSO before, try logging in that way instead of with a password.

  3. Search all inboxes
Look for the access request email — it might’ve gone to spam or a different folder, especially if you're using multiple inboxes or aliases.

  4. Contact Miro Support
If you're still locked out, you can contact Miro Support and provide:

    • The link to the board

    • Your current login email

    • Any other emails you may have used before

They can check which account owns the board and help restore access if needed.

Let me know if you need help reaching supports.

Re:

This is the expected behaviour when a user profile is removed from all teams/subscriptions in Miro. E.g.,

  • You were a member of one team in Miro, and likely one your were invited to before you had a Miro account.
  • Now, someone (i.e., a Team Admin of that team) has removed you from the team.
  • The next time you signed in, Miro detected your profile is not a member of any team and you are prompted to create a Free Plan team (the minimum required to have a useable Miro account).

So, the fact that you had to create a password could have been a coincidence , or it could have been something else.

when I try to access it tells me that someone else (my name) owns the board and sends a access request.

Miro does not expose the details about who is the current owner. Instead, they would only be displaying your own email address, e.g.:

Thanks Eca and Robert! I tried the suggested options and contacted support. I’m not sure how but it seems you are correct and I was removed / got disconnected from the Team where I created the boards and can no longer access it. I know that I am the original Team member and board owner as it lists my name when I try to access it from a logged-out state (yes, when logged in, it shows my e-mail address as the person trying to access the board):

I am going to go ahead and create the board.
