Question

Lines disappear with the image – despite not being grouped

Hi all,

I uploaded an image (office plan) to Miro and used it as a template to draw lines to trace the walls. Now I wanted to delete the image because I no longer need it. However, the lines also disappeared, even though they are not grouped with the image.

Does anyone have any idea what the reason for this could be and how I can keep the lines independently of the image?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Was it helpful?

Hi @Florian Oswald,

It sounds like the lines might have been drawn as part of the image annotation rather than as separate objects. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Check the Layers Panel – If you have access to Miro’s object/layer management, see if the lines are somehow linked to the image.
  2. Ungroup Objects – Even if they don’t appear grouped, try selecting the lines and using Ctrl + Shift + G (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + G (Mac) to ungroup them.
  3. Duplicate Before Deleting – Select just the lines, copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C), delete the image, and then paste (Ctrl/Cmd + V) to see if they persist.
  4. Check Image Locking – If the image was locked while you were drawing, the lines may have been treated as part of the image when deleting.

If none of these work, could you try selecting just the lines and moving them to confirm they are independent of the image?

Hello, thank you for the tips. The third point, duplicate before deleting – highlight only the rows, copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C), delete the image and then insert (Ctrl/Cmd + V) to see if they remain. It helped.

It is moved again but then at least you have it :)

Thank you
