"When I click the three dots to link one frame to another (or for any other action), nothing appears. What do you think could be causing this?"

Thanks for your help

Hi @Juan Gutierrez thanks for reaching out! I’d like to replicate this on my end to see if this issue is a bug. Could you please share a screenshot of the issue or a short video demonstrating the steps you’ve taken? It’d be really helpful for investigation.

Here it is

I am also experiencing this issue, I assume it must be a bug?

I suddenly started experiencing the same problem a few days ago, please help!

Same here, started experiencing the problem a few days ago. The three dots are now vertical as opposed to horizontal as per the guide at Internal and external linking – Miro Help Center. Used to be able to open the menu but it hasn’t worked over the past few days.

@Juan Gutierrez / @Josie O'Donovan  / @Miroslav Schonauer / @Adam Gillard

First, thank you for posting/chiming in as this is validation that I was not alone.

I had a ticket open, and shared my browser logs, but then the issue stopped a few hours later in the day.

For me, the issue was only happening in Chrome (also in Incognito mode).

The issue was happening sporadically for the last week and I was able to consistently reproduce it yesterday (Aug 11) morning, but then as  of the evening, it was gone and has not occurred again since.

When it stopped, the next time I launched Chrome, I had the “What’s new in Chrome” tab, so my Chrome was updated - this could have resolved the issue. My current version is: Version 139.0.7258.67 (so if you are using Chrome, too, trying updating your Chrome, if you can).

Some other things I did as Chrome was updating that could have resolved it:

  • Cleared my cache
  • Disabled and reeneabled all extensions.

For anyone technical or for any Mironeers reading this, here was the error in my console when I clicked the ellipsis:

Some of it in text form:

library-sentry.ef72f…80d0.js:sourcemap:7 Error: label property is required to get LabelItem's initial state at l.getInitialState (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…:sourcemap:1:105894) at c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…:sourcemap:1:105619 at children (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…sourcemap:121:83315) at o.render (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…sourcemap:121:74823) at om (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:152615) at oh (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:152413) at i (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:197131) at uI (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:175829) at uD (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:175699) at uE (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:172470) at uT (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:172859) at r6 (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:121638) at uF (react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:173308) at react.3d61a92adc8156…:sourcemap:1:204331 at U.renderVerticalContextMenu (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…sourcemap:109:26547) at U.update (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…sourcemap:109:25679) at U.show (c~BoardUI.desktop~Bo…sourcemap:109:25411) at c~Board.b3ee3b09df4c…:sourcemap:1:607355

I don’t suspect and 3rd-party Miro apps were the culprit, or browser extensions. I am guessing it was either some bad code picked up or a Chrome issue.

@Eca I will share this post in my support ticket (875770) to indicate it wasn’t just me.

I spoke too soon. The issue is back. My ticket has been reopened.

Temporary workaround is to refresh the page (Ctrl/Cmd + F5 if using the Miro desktop app).

😔 many thanks!!

Any progress/updates on this please? I’ve been experiencing this on and off since Monday - it’s becoming an obstacle.

Same here 😞. My laptop has been updated to Windows 11 and my Chrome to the latest version, and the problem still persists in ALL of my Boards...

@Juan Gutierrez / @Josie O'Donovan / @Miroslav Schonauer / @Adam Gillard

If you haven’t already, I would suggest that you all open support tickets as Miro may require more instances/data to determine the cause of the issue.

If you are using a paid Miro subscription, you can open a Miro support ticket by following these instructions:

https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020185799-How-to-contact-Miro-Support#h_01F010RXA0E1S9C0WFQYX75R6C

Your Setup

@Miroslav Schonauer has confirmed they are experiencing the issue on Windows 11 and Chrome (also happening to me in Edge, which is Chromium based).

Can everyone else confirm your setup?

Getting passed the issue

If you haven’t discovered this already, the temporary fix appears to be to:

  1. Load the board
  2. Refresh the board - from there, the ellipsis/vertical menus appear to open.

My setup is Windows 11
Chrome Version 139.0.7258.67 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Pay suscription (Corporate)

3-dot menu seems to have broken in Chrome. But seems to work in Edge.

Chrome Version 138.0.7204.184 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Me too...same issue.  Noticed it just today.  3-dot menu is broken in Brave and Chrome, but not in Edge.

I am experiencing the same issue, I thought it was just a blip last week but happening again today. The workaround of refreshing the page was a very simple fix. Thanks!

A refresh works for me too.  Thanks!

And FYI, I now see the issue in Edge and Firefox as well.

Refresh works, Thanks!!!

Latest update: My ticket has been escalated to an engineering team.

I have a seemingly unrelated question, but I am asking as I try to find any correlation between experiencing this context-menu-not-opening issue on one Miro account on a my personal laptop, but not on another account on a corporate laptop.

For months now, the context menu has looked different on my personal laptop where I do NOT have the Duplicate or Delete icons.

What I see on the computer where I am experiencing the ellipsis/context menu issue:

Menu A

And what I (and presumably all other Miro users) see on another computer:

Menu B

What do you see? Menu A or Menu B?

I just tested this on my Windows 11 laptop.  I see “Menu B” in all browsers (Brave, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox).

...and, so far this morning, the context menu seems to be working properly again.

@barncrow  Thanks for confirming you are seeing the Duplicate and Delete actions.

I had cleared my cookies and the issue did appear to be resolved for me… for a while. And now it is back again. 🤔

Thanks so much, @Robert Johnson, for taking the time to share logs, workarounds, and updates throughout this thread 🙏I’d also like to thank everyone else who confirmed the behavior and shared your setups. This input was crucial in helping us escalate the case.

I can now confirm that this issue is being handled by our Engineering team. I’ll be updating the status from Investigating to Known Bug so it’s clear to everyone following along. In the meantime, please continue using the temporary workaround of refreshing the board (Ctrl/Cmd + F5 on desktop app or browser) if the menu doesn’t appear.

We’ll keep you posted here as soon as there are further updates from Engineering.

Thanks for the update, @Eca!

Yes, I suddenly experienced the same issue, with the dots and also (very important!!) my right-click mouse pop-up menu does not show anymore on my PC-laptop. It does work on my MAC.

This is very annoying. Hope you can help?
