Importing a csv to create a mind map

I would like to import a csv file and have Miro populate a mind map from that file.
Is this possible?
If so, how do I do it? I have been searching through various community discussions but cannot find the simple answer.
Is there a simple answer?

Desperately seeking a solution.

Hi @Desa Zraick

Thanks for reaching out!

There’s no direct “Import CSV to Mind Map” feature in Miro at the moment, but you can get there with a couple of workarounds:

Paste directly into a mind map

  1. Open a Mind Map in Miro.

  2. Copy the rows from your CSV (or spreadsheet).

  3. Click the central node in Miro, then paste (Ctrl/Cmd + V).

    • Miro will create a branch for each row, using the first column as the node text.

Paste as sticky notes, then convert

  1. Copy your CSV cells.

  2. Paste onto the Miro board — they’ll appear as sticky notes.

  3. Select them all → Convert to Mind Map from the menu.

Note: Multi-level hierarchy from CSV isn’t supported yet — you’d need to arrange branches manually.

If you’d like to see a true CSV-to-Mind Map import in Miro, you can submit your idea to the Miro Wish List so the product team can consider it for future updates.

Hey,

I can’t find the “Convert to Mind Map” feature for the sticky notes, but I guess your answer was being written by AI so maybe it hallucinated it because I can’t find any mention of this feature online. Your answer is literally the only answer I find if I search “Convert to Mind Map miro” online.

Copy pasting the rows in a node doesn’t work either, it just copy paste the text in the node.

Please be mindful of hallucination when writing answers with AI, especially if you’re from the Miro team, thank you.

I may just have not be able to find it, or perhaps it’s a paid feature. My advice is more general than just your own answer, as I work with AI a lot. I hope it doesn’t come across as rude and I apologize if it’s the case (joy of being autistic is poorly expressing yourself by text).

What helped is copy pasting the excel in a table format, selecting it, and asking the AI to generate a mindmap. This did perfectly what I wanted to do, if someone wants to do the same thing.
