How to grant editing access to other users on the free plan?

Hello,

I have a free plan with one board, and I want to grant editing access to two people. The description of the free plan mentions that I can invite permanent team members to edit boards. How can I do this?

@profidentity - There are a few ways to do this. But first, I will note that, inviting people to edit boards in your Free Plan team will result in them being added to your team as full members where they can:

  1. See all boards in your team
  2. Create their own boards.

if you need to have others collaborate on some boards, while keeping others private and not having said collaborators create any boards in your team, then considering upgrading to a paid subscription.

How to invite other people to your team

Option 1: from the board’s share settings

Note: There is, in fact, currently a bug with the “Copy team invite link” feature where, if the setting is disabled in the team settings, then the user should not be told that the link was copied to their clipboard (as the clipboard will be blank after using this action).

In order for the “team invite link” to work, you need to make sure it’s enabled in your team permission settings – more on this here:

Option 2: Just add them from your team user settings

Thank you for the detailed response! I think I did everything as described, but I received this message:

Does it matter? Will I still be able to work on the board with my team?

@profidentity - It looks like you have accepted a free 7-day trial. If so, as the prompt states, if you add users to your now Starter or Business Plan trial, they will become full members once the trial is over.

Since you have a paid subscription type, you could use the Visitors feature (aka, Anyone with the link) for non-team members to collaborate on your boards - more on this here:

https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012524559-Collaboration-with-Visitors

If you do not plan on continuing with a paid subscription once the trial is over, you could also choose to cancel the subscription now and downgrade back to Free.

Canceling a Subscription and downgrading back to a Free Plan

You need to following these steps in order to get back to a functioning Free Plan:

  1. Cancel your paid subscription: How to cancel your subscription
  2. Downgrade your plan: Downgrading your plan
  3. And, once you have downgraded, if you still receive the a “This board is locked” warning, then you need to follow these steps to unlock the board: The board is locked
