Hi

It seems a number of people have asked similar questions about this, but none have worked. I can’t seem to figure out how to open a web link to one of my boards in the desktop app. I’ve tried dragging and dropping the link into the app, but it either gives me a ‘no entry’ icon or the link is just dropped into my current board as text. I can’t seem to find any option to load it in, in the app, or in my web browser (Google Chrome).

Any ideas?

Thanks

@Gazzoid - Are you seeing this popup when opening Miro board links?

If not, you may wan to try resetting the application, or uninstalling and installing it again.

Or, if you are seeing the popup, but still just want to open a board solely in the desktop app without it also opening in a browser, here are a few things you could try:

  • Starred boards - If the board is in a team/subscription that you are a member of, you could star the board and then open it from the Starred boards page (located on your dashboard) - more on this here:
  • Recent boards - Similar to Starred boards, and the board needing to be in a team/subscription to which you are a member of, you should see it on your Recent boards page. More on this here.
  • Bookmark the boards in a Miro board - A less eloquent,  but likely a last resort, could be to create a Miro board, e.g., “Boards to open in Desktop App” and stored the links in a Miro Doc.

Hi. Thanks for the response. No, I don’t recall that popup showing recently. I’ll try what you’ve suggested though and resetting the application settings. Thanks.

Hmm. I don’t appear to have the options at the top to select File and Help etc. I’ve tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling, but they’re still not there.

You'll need to push the Alt key from the dashboard to expose the file menu.

Okay, I’ve managed to get it working. It still wasn’t coming up with the pop-up, but I tried adding miroapp instead of http and that seems to have done it. :)

Hey @Gazzoid All boards in Miro are cloud-based and tied to your account, so you don’t need to manually add boards from the web to the desktop app-just log in with the same account on the desktop app, and all your boards will automatically appear. If you have a board link, you can paste it into your browser and, if prompted, choose to open it in the desktop app, or simply find the board in your dashboard within the app. If you’re not seeing a board, make sure you’re logged in with the correct account and that your app is up to date.

Okay. The problem was, was that it wasn’t giving me a prompt to open the links within the app. But resetting the app’s settings/cache and/or adding miroapp at the beginning of the hyperlink sorted it. :)
