Is there a way to have GIFs loop indefinitely when they are not in focus?

I noticed that when GIF’s are playing, if they are not actively being focused on, they will stop playing at around 5 min. This is troublesome for me since I will preload all the GIFs before a presentation to make sure they are playing, but by the time I get to the later ones, they have already stopped playing.

So I was wondering if there was a workaround for this since this would make Miro non usable for my presentation. Thanks.

Hi @krimson0.

There’s a wish list suggestion to add an on/off button to autoplay all GIFs on a board submitted by @Emma Stark a year ago. It currently has 59 votes. Check it out and give it an upvote!

Thanks for the heads up, sounds like a great feature. I upvoted it!

However still hoping that there is a maybe a trick or setting to change that I can solve the issue I have sooner.

would be amazing to have gifs loop. Gamechanger.

Hi @krimson0 — thanks for raising this issue. I’m seeing exactly the same behavior: GIFs on my Miro board start looping, but after about 5 minutes of inactivity or not being in focus they just stop. community.miro.com+1

Here are a couple of things to try while we wait for a fix:

  • Make sure your Reduced Motion / Accessibility settings aren’t limiting the GIF playback. Some users report that when “Reduced Motion” is enabled, GIFs will only play for a short time. community.miro.com+1

  • Try closing any frames/sidebars or extra panels that might be keeping the board from actively “playing” the GIF. One report suggests when the Frames sidebar is open, GIFs may stop early. community.miro.com

  • As a workaround for presentations, consider converting your GIF to a short video clip or using a loop in a supported video format so it doesn’t rely solely on GIF playback behavior.

Thanks again for posting this — I’ll monitor and update here if I learn anything more.
