For some reason I cannot edit one of my boards. I’m on the free plan, had three boards, removed one that was no longer necessary, and yet still cannot edit one of them.

I just want to remove an extraneous frame from Student Onboarding, but it refuses to let me change anything. I can’t put in a support ticket as it’s a free plan. Help?

@Suzanne Hillman - One reason for this I have seen in the past is that the Free Plan team was a part of an experiment that allowed for users to have one Personal Board, which would be hidden from view for all other users. However, once the experiment was over, some of the boards were properly converted back to regular, free plan boards, so they were still hidden from other users while also utilizing the 3-editable board limit. I’m not saying that’s what’s going on here, but there are a few things we could look at.

First, though:

I’m on the free plan, had three boards, removed one that was no longer necessary, and yet still cannot edit one of them.

Have you signed out and back in, and cleared your cache?

Second, do you have any other members in your free plan team? Is so, do they have a board count? Go to the team settings for the team, then Users, and look at the Boards access:

Hi @Robert Johnson! Thanks for your reply.

I logged in on a computer I do not usually use, and there was no difference there. The other team members have no boards at all (the one I deleted was the one we used):

In addition, the plan itself says there are only two boards:

@Suzanne Hillman - Thanks for the screenshots. This is making more sense.

Okay, one last thing to check before we need to ship this off to the support team.

When you look at the board’s Team share settings, what do you see? AND, what happens if you change it from whatever it is now (e.g., Editor) to View, and back to Editor?

The team had no access, apparently. I changed it to edit, then view, then back to edit and I can use it now! So confusing, since I’m the owner. Thank you so much!

@Suzanne Hillman

I changed it to edit, then view, then back to edit and I can use it now!

Nice! One scenario that can cause this is when a paid subscription is downgraded back to a Free Plan, whether it was always paid, upgraded, or on a trial. Unfortunately, the fact that the wording varies between views (from team profile page it used the word “Locked”, but then “VIEW-ONLY” on the dashboard, and probably “Locked” when on the board).
