Hello,

Recently, YouTube videos have stopped working properly on Miro. When I click on a video, nothing happens — it doesn’t respond at all, as if it were just an image. The only way to play the video now is by opening it in Focus Mode. However, this creates other problems, as my students can no longer see the text and tasks for the video while watching it. They have to open the video in a new tab and watch it on YouTube while doing the task on Miro.

I’ve noticed that this issue only affects newly added videos. The videos I uploaded before last week still work fine. Is this a bug or something could be done to remedy the situation?

Also, I can no longer cut videos, as the trimming option seems to be missing. Has this feature been removed?

Thank you for your help.

I’m having the same issues.

Same issue here.

On the left is the video I added a while ago, and I can control it just fine.

On the right is the video that I added right now with the same link using the same method. The new video is not interactive, including the “watch on YouTube” button.

Sorry, for some reason my comment was sent twice.

Same here. I've had this problem twice — once a few months ago and again just now. Hopefully, they can fix it soon.

Hi all, thanks for sharing these reports and sorry to hear this has been affecting your workflow!

I tested this on my end, and I wasn't able to reproduce the issue — newly embedded YouTube videos are playing normally, including in Presentation mode.

To help us investigate further, could you please share a short screen recording showing the behavior you're seeing when you try to play the video? This will help the team determine whether it’s a bug, a browser/app-related issue, or something else.

Appreciate your help in getting to the bottom of this!

@Eca

Thank you for your reply. It seems that the issue has been resolved — the newly uploaded video now looks different, all the buttons are active, and it works fine.

I still have a question about the trimming option, though. Is it possible to trim the video on the board, or has this feature been removed for good?

@Eca

I’ve reloaded my laptop, cleared the cache and cookies, it’s still this bad

Hi,
the problem only seems to be with copying in the simple link from Youtube. Links intended for embedding still work. To do so you have to go under the video in Youtube, click on ‘share’ and then select ‘embed’. It should look like this:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FEsagIwBFB2?si=GcbdcuIm6Dz9CNuI" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hi everyone — thanks again for your updates and insights!

If you're still experiencing issues with YouTube videos not playing or embedding incorrectly in Miro (even after trying embed links), we recommend reaching out directly to Miro Support for deeper investigation.

When you contact support, please include:

  • A short video or screenshot showing what happens when you click the video

  • The exact YouTube link you’re embedding

  • The Miro board link (if you’re comfortable sharing it for investigation)

  • Your browser and OS details

This helps the team reproduce the issue and track any recent regressions.

⚠️ If you encounter any problems submitting a support request, feel free to reply here — I can help escalate your case or convert your comment into a ticket on your behalf.

Thanks again for your patience and collaboration!

Hi, I have exactly the same issue as other guys do. I use both methods of adding video and none of them work, unfortunately. 10 days ago everything worked well and I am still capable of reproducing videos I added previously, but not other I am trying to add.

Please escalate my case too, this issue really creats a huge problem for me.

Hi! It seems that I have the same problem. I still can watch the videos that I added before, but I can’t add and watch the new ones now
