Desktop app keeps logging out (Windows 11)

As the titles states, I use the Miro desktop app, and it (almost always) stays logged in if I use it very frequently, but if I don’t use it for a day or 2, it logs me out and I have to sign back in, which is a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

This has happened on my previous pc, my current pc, and my current pc after I reinstalled Windows (for unrelated reasons, but noted that that still was an issue)

Hi @Marty577

Thanks for sharing the details. This isn't generally expected behavior.

If you're part of an Enterprise organization, your company admin may have enabled Idle Session Timeout, which automatically signs users out after a period of inactivity for security reasons.

You can learn more here:
https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/6599303526418-Why-does-Miro-keep-logging-me-out

If you're not on an Enterprise plan, being signed out every 1–2 days isn't expected. Since you've already experienced this across multiple PCs and even after reinstalling Windows, could you let us know:

  • Are you using the standalone Miro Desktop app or the Microsoft Store version?
  • Are you signing in with email/password, Google, Microsoft, SSO, or another login method?
  • Does the same behavior happen when using Miro in a web browser?

As a troubleshooting step, you can also try resetting the Desktop app data, as outlined in the Desktop app Help Center article:
https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017572854-Desktop-app

With those details, we can help narrow down the cause.

It’s just me using the free version of Miro, so I don’t think the enterprise stuff affects me.

I’m using the Microsoft store version.

I am signing in using email/password. It remembers my email, but I have to look up my password every time.

It does not happen on browser (Chrome)!

I’ll fully remove the Microsoft store version try the standalone version and see if that changes anything over the next few days.

Hi @Marty577

Thanks for the update and for sharing those details!

Since the issue only occurs with the Microsoft Store version of the desktop app and doesn't happen in Chrome, trying the standalone desktop app is a great next step. Hopefully that helps narrow down whether it's specific to the Store version.

If the behavior continues with the standalone app after a few days, let us know. At that point, we can investigate further to see if there's anything else causing the desktop app to lose your session.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
