For a BPMN decision (diamond) adding text to the shape appears below it.
Sometimes I want the text to be inside the shape, or to the right, so that a connector can descend down from the shape without overlapping the text.

The best I can do seems to be to right align the text.
which is still pretty ugly.
Workaround is to add text not attached to the object. Kinda lame but works.
Are there any other options I’m not seeing?

Unfortunately not as that shape has some special behavior associated with it. Your workaround, or the other alternative of not using the BPMN decision diamond but just using a regular (basic shapes) diamond would be the only options.

How do I register a feature request to introduce better behaviour, so that can move the attached text like can be done in other mapping tools like draw.io/diagrams.net and Visio?
