Bulletpoints formatting issue

I am trying to insert a bulletpoint list but it will not go to the next bulletpoint.

Trying dash then space bar doesn’t work (I just have a dash and space)
Pressing shift + Enter just creates a new line without a bulletpoint
Pressing enter creates a new text box next to the one I am trying to type in.

I have existing boards where this worked perfectly fine! This is what I am trying to recreate in a mindmap for my exam revision notes:

Topic title

  • Author A (2025) found that trying to insert bulletpoints in Miro no longer works
    • but is this user error or the wrong template?
  • it worked a few weeks ago perfectly fine
    • why does it not work now
  • etc etc

Please can anyone help? I don’t understand how something that worked so easily a few weeks ago (and still works when I edit old boards) no longer functions.

After pressing random combinations on my keyboard for long enough I have answered my own question… replying here in case useful to others!

Pressing CTRL + Enter together goes to the next bulletpoint in the list

Hi @ecaine01  — thank you so much for circling back with the solution you found!

That keyboard shortcut tip (Ctrl + Enter) is super helpful — I’m sure others in the community will benefit from it too.

If the formatting behavior has changed compared to how it worked a few weeks ago, and you're noticing inconsistencies between old and new boards, feel free to share a quick screen recording or example. I’d be happy to pass it along for a closer look just in case something unexpected is going on.

Thanks again for keeping the thread updated!
