Boards are no longer available

After I logged into the account for the first time in several months I was greeted by a new layout, I was asked to create a team, etc. However, I no longer see any of the boards that I previously had. The boards seem to still exist. At least one that I shared with colleagues still exists when I click on the link, but I don’t seem to be Team admin anymore since I am not receiving requests to join the team underlying that board. How can gain I access to them again?

Hi @Christopher Wittmann, thanks for reaching out!

From what you’re describing, it sounds like your boards still exist but are likely tied to a different team or role than the one you’re currently viewing. This can happen if a new team was created during login.

Here are a few things to check:

1. Switch between teams
On your dashboard, try switching between all available teams (usually from the left sidebar or profile menu). Your boards may still be under a different team.

2. Use the board link
Since you mentioned you can still access a board via a direct link, open it and check:

  • The team name it belongs to (top-left corner)
  • Whether you have access to switch into that team

3. Permissions may have changed
If you’re no longer a Team Admin, it’s possible:

  • Your role was changed by another admin
  • Or the team ownership was transferred

In this case, you’ll need to request access from a current Team Admin.

4. Check if you logged in with the correct email
If you have multiple accounts, make sure you’re using the same email that originally owned or had access to those boards.

If you’re still unable to access the team where the boards are stored, I can help you reach out to support team. You’d need to provide the following details:

  • The board URL(s) you can still access
  • The email(s) associated with your Miro accounts
  • The team name (if visible from the board)

Support can help verify ownership and assist with restoring your access.

@Christopher Wittmann

I was asked to create a team

This can also happen when a user is removed from a team and is no longer a member of any team.

I created a post about this scenario, including a few tips on trying to regain access to the team (or least the boards):
