Where is the function to lock the name of the board? There is some bug happening right now where some team members cursors continue to ONLY highlight the board title and not access the items on the board. This means the board titles get renamed multiple times a day. This is confusing and unnecessary.

Please let me know how to lock the name of the board so other team members cannot change it, accidentally, or on purpose. I understand this issue is at least 5 years old, so I imagine you have developed a fix to it by now. Thank you.

Hi @Leigh Redemer,

Thanks for reaching out and describing the situation so clearly. Right now, Miro doesn’t have a way to lock the board title — anyone with editor access to the board can rename it.

If your teammates are only trying to interact with board content but keep accidentally focusing on the title, that sounds unusual (and may be the bug you mentioned). I’d recommend:

  • Asking affected teammates to refresh the board or try a different browser to see if the issue persists.

  • Double-checking their access level (viewers and commenters cannot rename boards).

  • If the behavior continues, please open a support request with details, since the team may need to investigate further.

As for preventing title changes, the best workaround is to manage permissions: set users who don’t need editing rights as Commenter or Viewer. That way they won’t be able to change the board name.

I’d also recommend adding your idea about “locking the board title” to our Wish List, since that’s where our product team reviews feature requests for prioritization.
