I established a board for my lectures - 20 students are using it. ‘Suddenly’ it seems that all text from Sticky Notes (only the text, not the notes; and no text from text boxes or other forms) was deleted.
Do you have any idea:
how this can happen?
how to restore this (could not find anything in the history; the history is also rather long as 20 students are working on their group works here)
Would be grateful for useful hints
thanks and bests,
Christian

Hi @christian baumgartner
The HOW is easy:
But getting it back -- to my knowledge -- is not so easy. Control-Z will work for me - but naturally if time goes on or if someone else can do this.
Hi @christian baumgartner, Thanks for flagging this — that does sound frustrating, especially with so many students working on the board.
A few possibilities and suggestions to check:
Content accidentally deleted or cleared: It’s possible someone unintentionally selected multiple sticky notes and used the “clear content” option or deleted text without deleting the notes themselves.
Version History: Since you've already checked the board history, you might want to try scrolling back to a few key timestamps before the issue occurred. The version history can get quite detailed when there’s lots of activity, but if you can identify a specific point when the content was still there, you may be able to restore that version or copy content from it.
Activity List: You could try using the Activity list to check actions performed on specific sticky notes — it shows who edited what and when, though it's limited to recent actions and individual objects.
Contact Miro Support: Since sticky note content shouldn't vanish without action, it may be worth contacting Miro Support directly with your board link and a brief summary (like what you shared here). They can check backend logs and confirm if anything unexpected occurred.
Let us know what you find, and we’ll do our best to support you!
Hi @Kenneth Ritley ,
Hi @Eca
thanks a lot for your comments and support. Via version history I could recover a version including all text, ok so far. But I still wonder how I can select all sticky notes at once (there was quite a lot of) to delete the content. Is there a possibility to mark ALL sticky notes at once?
thanks again
Christian
Hi @christian baumgartner,
So glad to hear you were able to recover a version with all the text — thanks for the update!
To your question: it depends on how sticky notes are grouped or laid out.
Here are a few options:
Click + drag to lasso-select Just click and drag your mouse around the area with sticky notes — anything within the selection box will be selected.
Use Ctrl/Cmd + A (select all) If your board is zoomed in on an area with mostly sticky notes, pressing Ctrl + A (or Cmd + A on Mac) will often select everything visible in that area — including sticky notes.
