Question

adding callouts in a doc

using mac mini (silicon chip), desktop miro (paid class)

i have learned to turn off the vpn, and have almost no other apps running to get smooth functionality; and only seldomly, there be lag.

however, my battle with callouts is one i’m losing. i can’t click out of a callout i create in a doc or create new callouts. and it’s odd because all other features are fine.

if more detail helps, here it is:

  • i add a doc, add heading, then add a callout
  • i’m able to type and change border color and emoji
  • but then i have difficulty clicking outside the callout into the doc, and i have to meander to other items and click in those, then try the doc again before it finally works
  • otherwise, trying to add a callout creates another block within the same border of the first callout
  • but it gets totally stuck after adding a second callout, and nothing i do gets me three in one doc (except one time after clicking around like a crazy person did i get three, but i can’t recreate that miracle, nor conjure a fourth)

i did these logical what-if’s:

  • i checked other boards, and i have the same issue
  • i’ve opened new docs in the same board, and tried copying existing callouts, but miro simply copies them into an existing callout
  • i’ve tried this across multiple days now, and same result.

again, everything else i use works fine

i’m afraid to uninstall and reinstall because i had some issues during the initial install and want to leave that as the last ditch effort

is this a common thing with callouts? (mac users or otherwise)

is a similar thing with a different feature common?

thanks in advance

@evenevan  I'm using macOS Golden Gate, M5, and can't reproduce this in the Miro desktop app or browser.

Have you tried in a browser? Does it happen there?

You could try resetting the desktop app's application data versus a full reinstall:

https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017572854-Desktop-app#for-macos_2

Contacting Miro support

There may still be something in your specific scenario that's causing the issue that a product team may be interested to know about.

Since you're using a paid Miro subscription, you can open a Miro support ticket by following these instructions:

https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020185799-How-to-contact-Miro-Support#h_01F010RXA0E1S9C0WFQYX75R6C

If you do open a ticket, if would be helpful for the rest of the Community if you could update this post with the outcome.

@Robert Johnson nice, thank you!

great point about trying it in a browser, never occurred to me.

i have reset the application data before, upon initial install. but forgot to do it here, thanks for the reminder.

i’ll try those solutions when i’m home. and yes, i know i can create a ticket, but i wanted to see if other mac users had similar issues; plus, i started a ticket recently and the auto response mentioned heavy volume, so i was trying to be nice. i’m still tinkering over here, no need fo bog down the system until i really need it

will be happy to update when i have new of any kind
