Problem: How do I “Add” not “Create” a Team to the Desktop Miro App.
Current Solution: I use my Personal “Starter” account on the Miro Desktop App, and works in Chrome.
I can see that you can Switch from different teams in the left sidebar but it doesn’t let you add????

Is there a solution to have multi Teams in one Miro App and how do you add?

Hi @Andrew Woods  Hmmm . . . perhaps it depends on your license. With my education license here is what I see:

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Ken

Thank you for the reply.
But I don’t get that option, I have added a screenshot for you.

I can “Create” but NOT “Add”. - Weird hey

Cheers

@Andrew Woods - The action name has changed to "Create team" in the new UI, but it's the same action.

Thanks Rob

Not great UX, ‘Create’ is the wrong word. As you are joining a team that has already been created, so your not creating a team.

Appreciate the tip thou.
Thanks

The challenge of the design is that, depending on the user's role and subscription, they may be joining an existing team, e.g., a member of a Enterprise subscription, or they may only be able to create a new team, e.g., any member (member or admin) of a Free Plan or Starter subscription, OR a Company Admin of a Business or Enterprise subscription could create a new team in the current subscription OR create a new plan via a new subscription (I think there are even more scenarios that I'm not thinking of).

In the old dashboard design, the action was always a plus symbol, but the action that would happen when the button was clicked could be seen in a tooltip if you hovered over the button.

I understand the challenge of accommodating multiple user roles and subscription scenarios in the design. However, the current approach still doesn’t address the underlying issue: the ambiguity of the action represented by the plus symbol or “Create”.

I maybe an outlier and the data shows otherwise?

I wondered if the button wording may change at all, based upon the context of the situation, so I added one of my Miro accounts to a Business Plan subscription as a regular member, but the button still showed “+ Create team”. Next I added the same account as a member of an Enterprise Plan subscription, and this time it switched to “+ Join team”:

So, there are likely only two states to to the button.

I maybe an outlier and the data shows otherwise?

Exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps the data shows that the majority of users who are using the action (outside of the Enterprise Plan) are creating new teams. Given Miro’s user count, these types of decisions have fascinated me as of late, e.g., if 90% of 80M users are creating new teams, that still leaves around 8M people who may expect another action based upon the chosen wording.

Good solution
Worth testing :)

Interesting. I saw the “Create +” CTA on youtube, and it defines the word for me

Create - Upload video, Post, go live…
