Access to Web Whiteboard

Hello, I drew on a board on https://webwhiteboard.com/ a few days ago. When accessing the tab now, it says that the board is locked and will be deleted soon. I should sign up for free to unlock it.

I have clicked on the “Sign up and unlock for free” button and created an account. However, when logging in to Miro, the board from back then is not listed. I am not sure it considered the origin of the sign up request or uses shared cookies to make a connection. When I open https://webwhiteboard.com/ once more, it again shows the same “This board is locked” dialog and sign up prompt.

How to unlock and access the board?

Was it helpful?

Hi @FlorianW, thanks for reaching out!

When using webwhiteboard.com, boards created without logging in are stored temporarily and linked only to the browser session and local cookies. If those cookies are cleared or if you access the board from a different browser or device, it may not recognize your access—even if you’ve since created a Miro account.

Since you mentioned creating an account and still not being able to access the board, I’ll go ahead and convert your post into a support ticket so the team can look into whether the board can still be recovered or accessed in another way. Please share the URL link of the board with supports if you were able to save it.

Hang tight, someone from the support team will be in touch soon!

Hello @Eca, thanks for your reply and opening the support ticket!

I have not explicitly cleared the cookies. The browser was closed in between due to automatic restart, but it is Google Chrome with the “Continue where you left off” setting, which should restore cookies as well as session storage. Moreover, if that information was not there anymore, then https://webwhiteboard.com/ would not be able to identify the locked board and display the message, would it? The account was created and accessed in the same (restored) browser window, too.

The (restored) tab still sits in my browser window, thus I have the id as far as I see, but the board has expired in the meantime, unfortunately. Still tried to tell support.

Kind regards

Hi @FlorianW , thanks so much for the added context and for outlining the steps you took to retain the browser session and board ID.

As I can see in the support ticket I created for you, it hasn’t yet been assigned to a support agent. I’ve followed up internally to see if we can help prioritize your case. The support team will get back to you as soon as they can — they have more tools on their end to investigate further.

Thanks again for your patience!
