[RESOLVED] Sticky note does not reflect the entered 2-byte characters on iPad

Hi all,

 

I love Miro so much that my brainstorming won’t happen without it. One thing I am wondering is that somewhat the Japanese (maybe including other 2-byte character) text input to sticky notes is not accepted when I hit return from the input method. This specifically happens on iPad apps for long but there are no issues on PC browser version. I suspect there might be a problem with the connection between iPadOS language system and Miro app.

As Apple pencil is indispensable for me, this is almost the only missing piece for me to boost my idea. Please share your thoughts if you have experienced something similar before.

Hi guys, I have good news - the team has released a fix for the issue with the Japanese characters input not so long ago. You can now type Japanese characters in to the sticky notes.

To test it, clear any cookies in browser  / update the mobile app / reset the application data on the Desktop App. For the latter, click Miro in the top menu and choose Reset application data as shown in the screenshot below:

After that, log in to the Miro app and try to write out the Japanese characters again. If the issue persists, please delete the app and all app files from your system and download the latest version from here: https://miro.com/apps/.

Hope this works fine now!

Thank you for reaching out and reporting the issue!

I’m afraid there’s currently a bug on our end that causes such behavior on iPads and iPhones. The good news is that our developers are already working on a fix for it. 🛠

I’ll make sure to let you know as soon as we have any updates on the issue!

Thank you so much for your swift reply, sorry for writing back to you late.

Indeed that is a very good news for me, I will look forward to the coming update.

One more thing popped up in my mind is about the font issue in Windows environment. The handwriting fonts for sticky notes in 2-byte East-Asia font set works pretty nicely in Mac, but not in Windows. I anticipate that is because Windows OS does not have fancy handwriting Japanese fonts at the moment, but it will be fantastic to substitute it by some online font like Yomogi (https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Yomogi?subset=japanese) or Zen Kurenaido (https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Zen+Kurenaido?subset=japanese) for instance. Since Miro is perfect to start drafting something in my mind, this handwriting font is almost indispensable in my workstyle. Your consideration is much appreciated.
