Guest and Visitors cannot edit Tables

good day!

I am an invited guest on the boards on the paid Business rate. I have all the editor's access rights on these boards. But I can't edit the DateTables and Timeline tables. At the same time, I can do this on those boards where the tables are not linked to anything else.
What could be the problem?

Hi @LizaVe , thanks so much for your question, and welcome to the Miro Community! 😊

You're absolutely right to notice that there's a difference in how Data Tables and Timeline widgets behave for guests — and I’m happy to clarify what’s going on.

Miro’s Data Tables feature recently moved out of beta and is now generally available. With this transition, Miro has refined permissions for certain advanced widgets like Data Tables and Timelines. Currently, guests and visitors have view-only access to these widgets — even if they have full editor access on the board itself.

If you or others need to edit Data Tables or create new ones, you’ll need to be invited as a full member of the team, rather than as a guest. This ensures that only team members have editing rights for more complex or data-sensitive features.

That said, the team is aware of some inconsistencies in how these permissions show up on different boards, especially if the tables were created during the earlier beta phase. The product team is investigating that behavior to ensure things work consistently going forward.

Thanks again for raising this — I know changes like this can be unexpected, and we really appreciate your patience as the team works to smooth out the experience!

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.

Hello everyone. I have the following problem: The guests in a board cannot edit the table, although they have been granted “edit” access. It was still possible a short time ago. But now it no longer works. It is the original board, so it cannot be due to a synchronization of the table.

I have also created a new board with an empty table for testing, but the guests cannot work in it either. :/

Does anyone have similar experiences and a solution?

Best regards

@SBR GRM  / @Iain Russell Ride Shotgun  - I merged your posts into this existing one where @Eca explains what is going on.

This change is annoying now that guests can no longer edit tables, I wouldn’t say that this feature gives you the ability to add “complex data” and if you had any “date-sensitive” information you wouldn’t share it on a Miro board!?

The lack of editing capability for guests feels like just a money making scheme to for force more membership plans. This new feature now becomes useless

@Iain Russell Ride Shotgun I can totally feel your input. For us it’s also annoying. But let’s switch back to Excel on Shared folders… worked before.
I really would love it to work with guests on Tables on a miro Board.

Additional we are now concerned same behaviour will occur on other feautres like diagrams.

We recently discovered that guests can no longer edit timelines —a capability they previously had and one we relied on. This change was made without notice and has caused issues, especially with Microsoft Teams integration where timelines now fail to load.

Restricting collaborative tools to paid users hurts the very flexibility that drew us to Miro. We urge the team to bring back guest editing for timelines or provide a practical workaround. Decisions like this make it harder to justify continued use of the platform.
