Just wondering if once you are on the paid version you are able to create a template and use that as the cards for the Kanban boards?

Are you referring to having some prepopulated cards which you could drag and drop into a column of a Kanban board? If so, then yes, this is possible. For the exercises in my agile courses, I have a number of user stories pre-populated which I drag and drop into a blank Kanban board for each working group of students.
