It would be immensely helpful to include additional formatting capabilities within Grid, including: Ability to change the color / weight of gridlines, including removing them all together. This has resulted in quite a bit of re-work for the team Ability to indent in text within a grid line Within tools like PPT, the table function allows you to input text in an organized format, and would be great if Miro could do the same
It would be really useful to be able to filter grids in the same way as you can filter a table in Excel, so for example I have an action planner with a Completed (yes/no) column and for clarity when running a workshop to be able to filter out rows marked as complete without deleting them. Not vital but it would be a nice to have!
Hi, I am using grids very frequently in a way that I add stickies or boxes to grid cells. While I love the auto-size function when inserting objects, I am missing an option to align objects within the cell. In general, I would like to be able to place and stick objects to the cell and align them to get to a clean look.
Hi, I’d love if it was possible to (manually) change the direction of the text in grids so that the text is written vertically in some rows, and other horizontally. See pics for explanation :) The grid I’m working on right now How I’d like it to be
When a grid is locked for editing, especially when guest editors cannot unlock it, should not react to connectors or object cell insertion.
There is this (bug) in grids: whenever a grid is resized, the text size inside that grid is being resized too, but the font size doesn’t change. So, a 24px font can be as small as a 14px one, if the first grid has been downsized enough, for example. Here’s two ideas: allow text to remain unchanged in size (or) actually change the font size when text inside grid changes its dimension as a result of a grid resizing action I hope other people would find this suggestion useful too.
When doing a search for text, you can filter to types of elements, however it doesn’t have grid as an option. We have lots of text in grids, but can’t do a search just on the grids. With lots of other elements on a board we need to be able to localise the search.
Similar to this other issue with column limits (https://community.miro.com/wish-list-32/increase-column-limit-for-grids-2373), we could use more rows in our grids.
Personally, Grid is my favorite of all Miro features. I would love to have one small tweak to it. When I tried to create or move another grid inside a grid cell, it is showing a warning that it isn’t supported. Can we have a grid inside a grid cell just like shape or other objects? This will make a ton of difference, at least to our team where we brainstorm and write concepts granularity-wise i.e we use zoom as we get deeper into a concept (grid cell).
It would be great to have the ability to merge cells on a grid so we can design different types of tables.
Before, we could easily copy and paste multiple cells from Excel or Google Sheets into a grid. Now, it keeps asking if we want to use the new table function, which we don’t like because it doesn’t let us customize colors or make it look good for presentations. Now, we have to copy and paste each cell one by one, which is a pain. Please fix this. Either let us customize the new table or give us the option to paste into the grid the old way so it doesn’t mess up our workflow.
When I use a grid with merged cells the colouring with opacity isn’t working properly. I colour a cell. I set an opacity. I colour or change opacity of another cell. The opacity of the previous cell is set back to default or the last properly saved state. I couldn’t figure out when it finally saves a state and when not. It’s reported and confirmed as a bug. Product Management thinks it has no prio. I work a lot with grids and find this very annoying. It steals my time!
If I could control the width of the padding on frames set to grid mode, I’d be thrilled. I’d like to be able to change the width between the objects as well as the width between objects and the edge of the frame. The community idea “Text padding shouldn't change with text size” is in a similar vein. These ability to control padding would help boards waste less space, especially when saving space across several frames or even very large ones. Also, at a 0 width, one could functionally create their own custom tables by having the outlines touch, which is something that would be great for me as I find the built-in table rather limiting. As a workaround, I’ve just been setting the font size really high so I can zoom out to scale everything down. It mostly works, but it’s a bit awkward. Uses up too much space. Much better for my current project. Otherwise, Miro is absolutely great! I’ve been able to share it with several of my friends and peers. Thank you for creating, maintaining, and impr
At the beginning of June 2024, you made an update and added the snap to grid feature. However, you have changed the grid size. Previously the size was 5x5 squares in 1 larger square, now it is 4x4.I and many other people have used the old grid as a useful guide. Now I can't continue working on my project because of this problem. You should add a function for customizing the grid size: 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 etc. Or at least bring back the old grid size. I think that people for whom the size of the old grid size was important would like to return it.
like the dots grid feature but It’s too distracting to eyes. Reducing the grid’s opacity and subdivision when not moving anything can fix the issue. The accurate grid should only displayed when moving the objects in the board.
It would make way more sense when Grid mode was selected the “snap to grid” option was not only greyed out, but also set to OFF. Currently, it appears that, with Grid mode, “Snap to Grid” can’t be disabled rather than isn’t available. I bet 90% of people googling why the Snap To Grid isn’t working is because of this confusion
Would like to request a tool to set the dimensions of the grid along with a ruler to measure distance between objects. I often use Miro as a VTT replacement for board and tabletop games and a measurement tool would be extremely useful.
The Idea It should be possible to add a frame into a grid cell. The Problem You often have a large collection of frames with an implied macro-structure. For example, when mocking UIs, you will have a collection of frames related to one feature/journey, and another collection related to another feature/journey. And these features may themselves have a structure. In order to organise your frames, you would like to be able to add them to a grid, which is advertised as Miro’s solution to macro-structuring. But this is impossible, as frames cannot be placed inside a grid. The Solution Make it possible to add a frame inside a grid by drag-and-dropping it, or by copying the frame, selecting the grid cell, and pasting it inside.
I think having a way to grid frames would be an amazing feature to have! That way when you’re setting up presentations, you can make sure all elements lay cohesively in the correct place! Similar to how you can pull margins in to indesign documents, I wish I was able to do that on each frame of my 168 frame presentation I’m currently working on.
The background (board) grid appears to be in units of 24. Half of 24 is 12 and a quarter is 6. Design systems, video standards and font measurements almost always use binary units for example 4, 8, 16 as units of scale. Take for example the standard video dimension HD which is 1280 by 720. If the grid unit was 16 both the height and width of the video would align perfectly with the grid. With a grid of 24 the width of the video is 1280 / 24 = 53.33333333333 units and... oh dear now I can’t snap spacing. Of course you could always let users control their grid size which would be perfect but Miro doesn’t appear to be that kind of product from what I’ve seen.
