Need Help: Simplifying the Process for Using My Miroverse Template with Talk Tracks

Here is my new miroverse board

https://miro.com/miroverse/ikigai-workshop-with-video-support/

Hi Miroverse Community,

I recently submitted a template to Miroverse, and while it’s live and working, I’m running into several challenges and need your advice on how to simplify the process for users. Here’s the situation:

The Current Issues:

1. View-Only Access by Default:

• When users open the template from Miroverse, they can only view the board and listen to the talk tracks but cannot edit the board directly.

2. Talk Track Accessibility Issues:

• Users can duplicate the board to edit it, but the talk tracks don’t work as expected.

• The “Play Talk Track” feature isn’t functional on the duplicated board.

3. Random Frame Navigation:

• When users open the board from the miroverse “use template”, the board jumps to a random frame (e.g., Frame 7), even though I intended it to start on Frame 1. Which is confusing.

What I Need Help With:

How can I simplify the process for users?

• Should I provide clearer instructions on how to access, duplicate, and use the template and talk tracks?

• Should users click “Use Template” on the Miroverse page, or is there another way to streamline the experience? Do they click the name of the board (which is a clickable link)

• How can I ensure the board is editable and talk tracks work as intended?

 • Is there a workaround to make talk tracks functional after duplication?

• How can I fix the random frame navigation issue?

• Is there a way to set the default starting frame for the talk tracks?

Why This Matters:

I’ve spent a lot of time creating this board and ensuring it’s helpful and engaging for users. It’s disappointing that people aren’t able to use it as seamlessly as I’d hoped. I want to make sure my template delivers value without causing confusion or frustration.

Any Tips or Best Practices?

If anyone has faced similar challenges or knows how to address these issues, I’d love to hear your advice.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Hi @Richard Buchanan

Thanks so much for reaching out, and I appreciate your patience! I’m happy to help clarify and address these challenges.

  • View-only access: The Miroverse version of your template is intentionally view-only so users can preview it before deciding to make a copy. Clicking “Use Template” creates an editable version for them to use.
  • Talktrack issues: There is currently a bug affecting Talktracks when a board is duplicated, causing them to lose their original order and functionality. Our engineering team is actively investigating this, and I’ve escalated your case as another example. For now, your approach of linking Talktracks in numbered frames is the best workaround!
  • Random frame navigation: This issue is also tied to the Talktrack bug—I’ve flagged this with our engineering team and will update you when I have more details on their progress.

In the meantime, adding clear instructions within the board can help users navigate more smoothly. Users can either click “Use template” to create an editable copy or, as you noted, open the clickable link attached to the title, which leads to the view-only Miroverse version, and then duplicate the board from there. I’ve noticed that when following this sequence, the board consistently opens on the welcome frame.

I really appreciate the effort you’ve put into making this board engaging and valuable for users! I’ll follow up once I have more updates from our team.

Best,
Jamie

@Richard Buchanan - Great template! Thank you for sharing this with the world🙏

Here’s some feedback and tips:

In summary:

  • Double-check the frame order in the Frames sidebar (shortcut to open is Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F
  • The text 4 of 7 is outside of the Frame
  • Consider renaming the Talktracks to match the name of the frame or the title inside of the frame.
