I am sure many of you have already used different techniques to create your workshops. I am consistently dipping into Liberating Structures to string together experiences. I’ve used a few for clients and have also actively experimented with a number in Miro to get a sense of where they can work smoothly or otherwise.

My list so far:

What Liberating Structures have you tried building with Miro? Do share here!

Here’s a recent Liberating Structures workshop I’ve run recently.

@Isman Tanuri  :raised_hands:  for Liberating Structures!

Was just thinking the other day… We the People, the Miro Community, ought to generate a library/kit of LS Miro Templates.

PS: I love the timelapse of your meetings on Youtube … that’s a great way to share the overall vibe and layout of a big session. I’m gonna have to borrow that technique.:smirk:

@Max Harper Totally, Max, it’s so in line with the spirit of Liberating Structures! Maybe we can work with the Miroverse folks on this one.

PS. Do so! Definitely a great way to showcase your work to clients, current or potential. I think I can do an improvement with some music on them :)

Thanks for sharing, Isman! I love the videos

And music would be cool :)

We’ll be happy to have more LS templates in Miroverse :yum:

Hi @Isman Tanuri, I’m just in the process of setting up a few boards (and possibly other types of e-LS). Just quickly double-checking if you’re happy for me to steal and adapt yours? I’ll happily swap once I have a few of my own set up :)

Hey @Birgit sure thing. Just let me know what you need and I’ll send over an RTB of those LS elements in a board.

Thanks @Isman Tanuri - that’s very kind of you!

Thanks so much again :)

Here you go, @Birgit. This should work 😁

Hi @Isman Tanuri - sorry for the much delayed response, I was out of the office for 2 weeks and determined not to log into any work related things!

Thanks so much for sharing this, I’m looking forward to using it :)

Hey @Isman Tanuri

I attended one of your LS sessions using Miro - it was great! I don’t have a lot of experience with LS  but I can see the potential for this model in democratizing discussion and I’d like to introduce it to others in my sector - I think it has a lot to offer community development/engagement folks. Once I’ve got a bit more exposure I’d love put a few of these LS boards together too. I’m attending a meetup on Thurs on LS so I hope this will give me a few more ideas.

Hey @Birgit do a field report once you have! :)

Hello @Anna Morgan we would love to hear your learning and insights from your  LS session. Do share! And I’m looking forward to your LS boards :)

Hey @Isman Tanuri I attended a GREAT session with the the Meetup Agile Adelaide team - they ran us through 4 different LS - the Meetup ended and none of us wanted to leave 🙂 Facilitator, Francesco and Giselle did a great job. I was introduced to this cool Trello board in the Meetup, might be handy for others in this chain if they don’t know about it already.

Hey @Birgit do a field report once you have! :)

Got dates for my workshops now - I’ll let you know what happens!

I’ll be trying:

  • Conversation Cafe
  • Ecocycle
  • 1-2-4-all
  • 25/10 Crowdsourcing

Just looking at your example board again, I like the intro to Miro, too. Great inspiration, thanks again for sharing! I’ll make sure to share mine after (minus any confidential information) :)

Hi @Isman Tanuri,

My workshop series is nearly over now, and very pleased to say that other than some teething issues (we don’t have a real breakout room system and most participants were new to both Miro and LS, some of them even to using Teams for a group call) it went really well. Thanks so much again for letting me use your board as inspiration. I loved your teddy bear idea but have replaced them with the “historic rubber ducks” my org sells ;-)

Here’s a link to what I’ve got now ready to go (Conversation Cafe, 1-2-3-all and 25/10), I’ll be adding others to it as I set them up.

Hey @Birgit the board looks really good! I love how you organised 25/10Crowdsourcing for simplicity. I’ve done it previously but with randomness built into it. Perhaps it will actually work better just to go round the circle. I’m going to use this method next :)

And I actually love Teams for breakouts because of the persistent meeting links. I just create links to them in the Miro board for each group (see top right of image). The only thing about this method is that it’s a little tedious to make them come back if they ignore the bell, especially if they’re a. Engaged b. Competitive.

Congratulations on your workshop and thank you so much for sharing!

How did you include the randomness? I was trying to come up with ways but in the end decided that it’d be most important to be less confusing for people new to Miro and LS 😉 (spoiler alert, it was still a little confusing to some!)

Hah, tell me about it!! Our product owner who was helping with the facilitation was actually told by one group to go leave the breakout room because she was slowing them down! 😉 For the next one I’ll be prepping a good percentage of the attendees about the structure and ask them to keep an eye on the time, that part really is so much easier when you’re in a real room together!

Here you go, @Birgit. This should work 😁

You are the best, Isman! Thank you so much. Are there more LS templates available somewhere? Cheers, m

I almost missed this, @Malte Schindler (because no notification!) I’ve got a messy dump of all my LS spaces for inspiration here

Alternatively, there are a few wonderful templates on the Miroverse: https://miro.com/miroverse/
