It would be great if it was possible to be able to visualise the progress of tasks within the timeline view bar i.e. show a % or status line within the bar on the current status of a task.
This would help users visually see if they are on track or if they are at risk of completing their tasks. Not only will it help the user who is accountable for this task but will assist when it comes to providing reporting on the progress to stakeholders.

This would be great. I have created filters to hide Completed tasks but still have no way of seeing which tasks are already In Progress vs Not Started without opening the center panel.
Thanks for putting this forward — I +1 this idea wholeheartedly. I often use the Timeline view to track tasks and it’d be extremely helpful if the bar itself could show current progress or status (for example, a filled segment or colour change to reflect % complete or “at risk”).
This would make it much easier to spot tasks that are behind, on track or nearly done — both for me as the owner and when presenting to stakeholders.
If possible, I’d love to see options like:
a visible fill or gradient inside the bar showing % done
a status-colour overlay (e.g., green = on track, amber = warning, red = overdue)
tooltip or hover text showing the actual status value without clicking deeper
