I use the Miro desktop app on Mac. Often when I launch Miro, I get asked whether I want to relaunch in order to have the new minor version. This is annoying. I can’t find any way to turn this off. I want auto-updates, but I want to restart the program when I was going to do so anyway, not be prompted to do so when I launch the app.

Before someone answers “just click no”, let me say, the reason I open Miro is to use an electronic whiteboard, no to perform app updates or read prompts. Sounds obvious, but kinda relevant.

BTW: Psychologically this is not good for the Product. Slowly I am starting to associate opening Miro with being annoyed.

If you are concerned that people won’t do updates if you don’t prompt them, then associate a delay with the prompt - eg: if new version not installed for over a week, then prompt.

Please disable these constant updates while I’m working!!!

If I leave Miro running over night I have to close numerous update windows.

If I press Relaunch now, the update does not happen.

These windows pop up as I’m working.

I updated manually and that worked. For a day. Now I have update windows. Every day.

It would be great if  you could stop this from happening, or provide some information that would allow me to make this stop.

Same problem, I press relaunch now - and I still get this message again and again

I’m experiencing the same annoying problem since a few days. Even if I choose “relaunch now” it doesn’t change anything because the update script won’t execute. The app closes - period.

Could someone please fix that?

Besides that, it’s super inconvenient if this pop-iup keeps showing up during a presentation. My Friday meeting was - let’s say interesting - thanks to this damn launcher pop-up.

I also have this problem since Miro Update 0.10.95 (Windows 64bit).
This is my workaround: uninstall Miro Desktop App and install it again. This only takes a few minutes.

Unfortunately the latest setup provided by Miro is 0.8.28 so after installation a few updates are required. But this only took one minute and 2xMiro restart. Now I am up to date with 0.10.96. I hope Miro solves the problem before releasing the next update because this is really annoying.

I opened a Ticket in Miro Support and now it seems we found the problem:

  • In v0.8.57 Miro changed the install/update framework to a new one.
  • This causes the problem when your Installation is based on a previous Version
  • The Clou: it seems Miro did not update the link on the german page miro.com/de/app so you still get 0.8.28 from this page.
  • ==> uninstall your Miro desktop app
  • ==> get the newest setup from miro.com/apps
  • ==> install Miro Desktop App it with this setup

Great job Christian!

Thanks Christian! Hope this worked… Already tried uninstalling before I added my comment to this conversation and it changed nothing. I made sure I downloaded the .exe from miro.com/apps … Fingers crossed.

Not again! 🤣

Windows version here. It’s getting out of hand. The app is literally spamming me with “update available” more and more, it’s starting to drive me crazy! It’s been months now, is it really that hard to fix?!

I’ve moved past anger and bargaining, I’m in the acceptance stage now   I just reinstall the app every time it refuses to update. Inner peace achieved.

Seriously?

And don’t assume the app would relaunch, if I clicked on “Relaunch now”.
