Using Figma and Figjam sometimes, I got addicted to their “Copy as PNG” feature:
I select a few objects (frames, shapes, texts, components, anything...)
Right click > Export > Copy as PNG (or cmd+maj+c)
Then move to Jira, Confluence, Miro (!), cmd+V
Boom, I have an image with transparent background added to them.
So easy and efficient.
In Miro:
Create a frame for I need to be exported (not possible if what I need has several frames by the way)
Export the frame as giant JPG
Search for the file on my computer
Move to the other app
Manually add it where I need it to be…
Delete tenth of useless jpg files after a few weeks :)
Or take a screenshot with a gray background as long as what I need to share is not too big.
Please Miro, have a “Copy as PNG” feature.

Thanks Miro You’ve changed my life!
Just discovered it works with Frames: right-click to a Frame, find from menu Copy as image, and it does create proper transparent image.
This needs to be marked as “Delivered”. Miro finally copied this essential feature from Figma earlier this year, with the same keyboard shortcut (Cmd-Shift-C)
Has this feature been reverted in the meantime? Can’t find the option Copy as image in the context menus anymore.

Hi everyone who contributed to this thread!
Thanks for your constant follow ups and use case comments.
This Idea has been delivered! The copy as image option is available in Miro.To copy one or several objects on your board as an image:
Click the three dots on the context menu and select Copy as image. Or press Ctrl + Shift + C (for Windows) or Cmd + Shift + C (for Mac). The image will be copied to your clipboard
To paste the image on another board or platform, press Ctrl + V (for Windows) or Cmd + V (for Mac). The image will be created in PNG format.

Thank you to all the Miro Community members who shared their experiences with this feature. You help make Miro better— thank you!
Thank you, @Eca! Unfortunately, this option does not appear to me on right-click within the context menu (please note to the screenshot below), can this be caused by insufficient permissions? I’m not a heavy Miro user and/or admin, just working with it sometimes for my clients using it.
Hi @Christian Schaal
We can’t replicate this on our end. What browser are you using? Have you tried logging and out, clearing cookies/cache, etc to bring up the newest version of the software?

I’ve tried the native macOS app and iPadOS app as well as the latest release of Chrome for Mac. The context menu option for exporting a whole frame as a PNG is not visible on any browser or app mentioned above. I’ve been logged out from the iOS app since then and logged back in.
My colleague who’s also using the Mac version sees this option. Can this maybe caused by insufficient permissions?
This is not working for me. If I do “Copy as Image” and insert the image into any other image editing tool, I get black background not the transparent one.
So this in Miro
becomes this:
Can this be revisited?
Hi @Kate Kudryashova,
Based on my replication, this is not reproduced on my end.
Is this board owned by another user? If yes, the issue might have been impacted by the restrictions on copying. Check with the board owner and the team admin about copy and export settings. Hope this helps!
Please help. When I do “Copy as Image” and insert the image into Figma or other, I get light grey background.
@introsp - From both Chrome and Firefox from a paid and free Miro plan, my background appears to be transparent (see below).
What objects are you copying and are their objects behind them, e.g., are they in a frame? Also, is your board background set to the default light grey?
@Robert Johnson Hello! Thanks for the quick response! Browser: Chrome Object: Shapes with text as you could see from image I attached to initial post Frame: Yes, but I tried without frame or with empty frame background
Board: Yes, background color is default light greyю And I think I figured out what went wrong. Basically “Copy as Image” make image not from the selected object itself, but also captures everything behind it. And I had another object behind the shape with grey background. So to have transparent .png image you have to make sure that object is on the board and there is nothing behind it.
As confirmation of my words I’m adding this image. I clicked “Copy as Image” for only 1 object, but it captured another one LOL. Super confusing feature but it works.
