Hi Miro Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing to passionately request the addition of a drag zoom feature to Miro.

This feature would be a game-changer for so many users. In my experience, and I believe I speak for many others, the absence of drag zoom has been a significant pain point. Most design tools offer this functionality, and integrating it into Miro would greatly enhance the user experience, aligning it with industry conventions that many of us are accustomed to.

The ability to click and drag to zoom in and out would streamline navigation and improve precision in our work, making Miro even more efficient and user-friendly. The lack of this feature has even led me to move away from Miro at times, despite its many strengths.

Please, please, please consider this request. I truly believe that adding drag zoom would delight your customers and make Miro an even more indispensable tool in our workflows.

Best regards,
Rich

Drag zoom is a common feature in design tools that allows users to quickly zoom in and out on their canvas or workspace by clicking and dragging the mouse. Here's a detailed description of how drag zoom typically works:

### Drag Zoom Mechanism

1. **Activation:**
   - The user activates drag zoom by holding down a specific key on the keyboard (often the spacebar, Ctrl, or Alt) while clicking the mouse button.

2. **Zooming In:**
   - **Mouse Down and Drag Forward/Up:**
     - The user clicks and holds the mouse button and drags it forward (away from them) or upward. This action zooms in on the area where the initial click occurred, allowing the user to focus on finer details of the design.
     - The more the user drags the mouse in this direction, the closer the zoom level gets, magnifying the content on the screen.

3. **Zooming Out:**
   - **Mouse Down and Drag Backward/Down:**
     - Similarly, the user can click and hold the mouse button and drag it backward (toward them) or downward to zoom out. This decreases the magnification level, providing a broader view of the workspace.
     - The farther the drag, the more the zoom level decreases, giving a wider view of the entire design.

4. **Real-Time Feedback:**
   - Most design tools provide real-time feedback during drag zooming. This means the user can see the zoom level changing dynamically as they drag the mouse, allowing for precise control over the zoom level.

5. **Centering and Focus:**
   - The zooming action is usually centered around the initial click point. This ensures that the user’s point of interest remains central and visible, facilitating a more intuitive and efficient zooming experience.

### Benefits of Drag Zoom

- **Precision:** Allows for precise control over the zoom level, enabling detailed work on specific parts of the design.
- **Efficiency:** Provides a quick and intuitive way to navigate through different zoom levels without needing to use scroll bars or separate zoom tools.
- **User-Friendly:** Simplifies the workflow by integrating zoom functionality directly with mouse movements, reducing the need for switching tools or using additional interface elements.

### Common Use Cases

- **Detail Work:** Designers often use drag zoom to focus on small details, such as pixel-perfect adjustments or intricate vector paths.
- **Layout Review:** Quickly zooming out to see the entire layout and then zooming back in to make adjustments helps maintain a holistic view of the design.
- **Navigation:** Moving across large canvases or artboards efficiently by zooming out, panning, and then zooming back in on a new area.

### Implementation in Popular Design Tools

- **Adobe Photoshop:**
  - Hold the `Z` key or click the magnifying glass tool, then click and drag to zoom in and out.
- **Adobe Illustrator:**
  - Hold the `Ctrl` key and use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Alternatively, use the zoom tool (`Z` key) and drag for more control.
- **Figma:**
  - Hold the `Ctrl` (Windows) or `Cmd` (Mac) key and use the scroll wheel, or use the zoom tool to click and drag.

By understanding and utilizing drag zoom, designers can enhance their workflow efficiency, making it easier to navigate complex designs and focus on the necessary details.
