As the company admin I’ve found that the FL program to have significant pros and cons. I like the fact I can add licences & I don’t need to worry about the numbers at any time, but we have found managing the licences a challenge.
Our interpretation of the licence allocation rules under FLP
- Full licences must be held for a minimum of 3 months
- Full licences cannot be reallocated to a individual within 3 months - if this does happen, then the allocation will be considered a continual licence allocation
It’s apparent that Miro compliance have a strict rules approach - we think it’s:
- Licences can only be downgraded after 90 days of non-use (not a min of 90 days use)
- Licences can be reallocated after this time to the same user - as the 90-day window of non- use will have expired, so it's a new allocation
- Licence use is deemed to be the allocation the licence rather than its actual use
What this means is that we have licences unused for several months - for use right now at 90 days it's 13 users, for 60 & 30 days it's 50+ users (the Miro admin UI doesn't give us stats on more than 50 users)
What we'd like to see are enhanced licence management tools (and compliance) that will:
- Identify when people have used the licence for 90 days +, but haven't used the licence for x days (could be 30, 60, 90)
- Identify where a licence has been downgraded after the 90 days use, but upgraded again within the following 90 days - to be treated as a full allocation in this period.
This is a request to a) clarify the rules of FLP & b) provide more effective licence management and analysis tools.
This is impossible to do at present - and right now we have a situation where we have several licences being sat on by people who have been allocated the licence and aren’t using them, or have used the licence some months ago, but are no longer active users.
