Sticky Notes and Drawings

Came across a potential new use case with sticky notes. If you as a user are drawing on a sticky note it would be idea if that drawing would move with the sticky note. The only way around this is by grouping the drawing with the sticky note.

This came up in a systems thinking design exercise I ran this morning. Any thoughts without having folks group their drawings on each and every sticky note?

Was it helpful?

I would love this feature also. Having stickies as text-only is a significant design flaw for their use in rapid ideation sessions.

I’ve never even noticed this! The ability to draw on the actual sticky note makes perfect sense. That they become entirely separate objects is a little confusing.

I’m guessing that it’s due to the core functionality of the pen tool, which is basically to draw objects. But that could be fixed by, for example, introducing a workflow where you first mark an object (the sticky note) you want to draw and then activate the pen tool. Right now, a marked object will lose focus as soon as you select the pen tool.

Hey Miro community!

Great news – we’ve been working hard on improvements for drawing on tablets, interactive displays, and mobile devices. One long awaited feature we’ve added is the ability to draw directly on objects, like sticky notes.

Now when you move or resize the sticky note, your drawing automatically adjusts too. No more hassle with selecting or grouping things together.

We heard your feedback about this, and we’re thrilled to finally make your drawing experience smoother. A big shoutout to all of you for your patience and valuable input.
We would love if you could give the new drawing experience a try and let us know what you think about it. Your feedback means the world to us.
