Filter on tags vs search

Well took the plunge to Miro, advertised tags and “filtering”. After testing it appears you can only “search” entering one tag at a time. We build large diagrams across multiple domains/layers. Filtering would be a way to focus the context down to fewer objects.

Searching only finds a specific object on the board that is associated with a tab. Even more problematic is the implementation where if you reuse the same tag more than once then it will provide you a pick list of objects that you have associated to select to search. This is really bad given that you will reuse tags, back to an extensive pick list is cumbersome, but further only refocusing the board to only one object is all but useless.

Please fix this functionality to allow actual “filtering” and based on multiple tags selected. In addition, only allowing tagging to cards and stickies is useless as most diagrams require other shapes (UML, workflows, etc.). The current tagging functionality doesn’t get me “glass half full” but is not usable at all in reality of real work with clients.

Also, consider if tags are filtered out, the option to completely remove those objects or grey them out. This will give user option to leave a “hole” on the board or leave context. This solves real world dilemma.

Tags haven’t been as terrible as described above in my experience… these are my thoughts:

  • reached number of Tag limit that can be assigned to a Sticky, would be useful to be able to administrate the limit at a Company level
  • would like to Tag other objects and not only Stickies
  • searching Tags requires you to know the name of the Tag, if you have a lot it is better the Tags are listed and you can pick which ones to Filter when searching
  • would like there to be a Tag Template for Company Users so commonly used Tags and their colors are standardized

Hi. Are you saying that it functions differently than i am experiencing (or perceiving)? It appears (my interpretation) that the functions that you are describing below are different use cases. In that case the behavior i am experiencing and shortcomings remain. Again, appears that tags are only used for a “search” function. I do not see any function related to filtering. I think this is a paradigm decision for Miro which has significant implications (target use case and limitations). I just don’t find a “search” function useful at all, and the implementation of it to create a massive picklist if tags used more than once is just counter to the objective.

I whole heartedly agree - i just went to use tags to fliter througha a huge list of cards my team has….and instead im presented with a huge list of cards under the search box. this is not useful. Tags are meant for filtering through buckets of information. Selecting a tag shoulod set opacity down to 10% or something for cards that dont use the tag or remove them entirely.

Another Request I would want is to be able to Add multiple Filters during a Search. This could address Jack Reeves problem.

Regarding tgo241… I think that they can Filter Tag and just Search Multiple Words so that multiple Objects with matching Tags are returned.
