I had this idea! I am looking to create a more-or-less all-in-one place for managing my web design clients. I am currently using Trello for task management, but also need a visual space for wireframes, sitemaps and sharing mockups. Then I thought it might be possible to use Miro as a Content Hub, where clients can login, upload content for the site, such as logos, text copy, images etc. Clients can then upload Google Docs, PDFs etc. or write content into a document.

Then I thought, if Miro has a Kanban template, why not use that and ditch Trello??? I could add all project related tasks and the client can see them, respond, mark as done etc.

So……, I’m throwing this idea out here before I even consider using it live so that I can gauge opinions and ideas. So far, I can see a few issues:

  1. Legibility - I created this on a 32” screen so can accommodate a lot of info on the board. This would mean a lot of scrolling on a phone or a smaller laptop screen. Also, as more tasks are added and content uploaded, it could get rather big!
  2. Learning curve for client?
  3. It would be good if I could sync tasks in the Miro Kanban board so that they appear on my Google Calendar. Is this possible?

Is there a better way of organising this? For example, splitting into separate boards? I was thinking it would be good if the client can see tasks alongside the content area so that they don’t have to switch between boards or apps.

I’d love your opinions, questions, observations etc.

Thanks for sharing your idea, @Jeremy Gadd!

At the moment, features like native Google Calendar sync for Kanban tasks aren’t available. If this is something you’d like the product team to consider, I recommend submitting your idea to the Miro Wish List. That way, other community members can vote and add their own use cases, and the team can track demand for your request.

In the meantime, you could:

  • Organize large boards with frames to make navigation easier.

  • Link boards together if the project grows too big for a single space.

  • Explore automation tools like Zapier or Make for basic calendar sync.

Hi @Jeremy Gadd

Your idea is pretty much what I do. And your board looks pretty much like mine. I often use colored labels - not just the text labels like you have, but the principle is the same - that look like this to help people find stuff more easily:

Personally . . . not only do I NOT get too hung up on the integrations, but I don’t want them.  Just putting a highly visible link in a board to another tool is usually enough.

I am a big fan of the “Best of Breed” approach rather than the “Single Source” - Miro is great for a lot of stuff, but if another tool is good for something, use it.  Good examples in my area are GitLab - I am not even sure if there is an integration, but I would not want one anyway; and MS Teams. MS Teams especially is tailored-made as a document repository, whereas Miro “can do some limited document stuff” but that is not its strong suit.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Ken
