I had the same problem, and what helped me was resizing the timeline after dragging it to the board - just grab the corner and stretch it a bit. It also made it easier to move items along the dates. I use this a lot to make timeline online for team planning, and tweaking it like that saved me time.

Thanks for following up, and I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing issues with the timeline template — that definitely shouldn’t be happening.
At this time, we haven't received a confirmed product update specific to this issue. We're actively tracking this. In the meantime, here are a couple of quick workarounds that could help:
Duplicate the board and try editing the timeline on the copy — some glitches clear up with duplication.
Use incognito mode or temporarily disable browser extensions if you're using Miro in a browser.
If you're on the desktop app, make sure you're running the latest version (you can check for updates in the app menu).

Which browser or app version you're using?
Whether the issue occurs on all boards or just specific ones?
