Organizing Boards with Subcategories on Starter Plan

While Miro doesn’t support true “sub-boards,” on the Starter Plan you can use Spaces (previously called Projects) to organize boards by themes like H&M > SP1, SP2, SU, etc. Think of each Space as a folder for related boards.

For easy navigation between boards, you can also add links inside a board that point to other boards — just copy the board’s link and paste it onto a shape or sticky note.

Thank you so much for your response! I explored the space as you guided, and it was really helpful. I truly appreciate you sharing the link as well.

I have just two quick questions:

1. Guest vs. Visitor – What’s the difference between a Guest and a Visitor? What level of access or authority does each have, and what would be the advantages of choosing one over the other? (for Starter Plan)

2. Starter Plan Teams – In the Starter plan, how many teams can be created? Is there a specific limit?

And a small suggestion—it would great to have short, mini video walkthroughs on how to access key features like spaces, teams, and other important areas? I think quick visual guides like that would be so helpful for users getting familiar with the platform:)

Thanks for the kind words—glad the previous info helped! Let me answer your follow-up questions below:

• Visitor: Can access boards via a public link (no Miro account needed). Limited to viewing or commenting, depending on permissions.

• Guest: Must have a Miro account and be invited via email. They can edit boards they’re invited to, but don’t take up a paid seat on the Business Plan (not available on Starter).

Starter Plan Teams

The Starter Plan supports one team per subscription. You can invite unlimited team members within your seat limit, but you can't create multiple separate teams or workspaces under the same plan.

To clarify, the Guest role is available on the Starter and Education Plans, but only with View or Comment permission.

​@Deepti Patra The person likely entered the name "NO NAME" as their account profile name (or as their Visitor name). As my toddler would say, they are being "a trickster". 

Appreciate your quick reply here ! Does this also mean that the person has not accepted the request from the board sender/created which is why it is showing “NONAME” ?

​@Deepti Patra Thanks. This confirms my suspicions. “jagrity” (according to their email address) entered their name as “NoName” when creating their Miro account. For example:

If seeing their real name is important for more effective collaboration, you could request that they change their profile name to something more meaningful.

I also tested it on my end and figured out that if I invite someone to my board, their name shows as “NONAME” until they accept the invitation. I ran a quick test with a colleague, and once they accepted, the correct name appeared.

Hello, I’m facing a tagging issue. I’m not able to tag a particular email ID that I was able to tag before. Could you advise what might be causing this? For reference, I can still tag her other email without any problem.

​@Deepti Patra I suggest that you open a ticket with Miro support as they will be able to look into the details of the particular ID you are having issues tagging.
