I can’t play embeded youtube videos without entering focus mode. That also means that there is no way to play a youtube video in presentation mode. Have I understood this correctly?
Ideally I would just want to be able to start the video by pressing the iframe but this does not seem to be supported, as far as I can tell. Surely there must be a way of playing a youtube video from presentation mode though?

Hi @Moltas Carlsson
I don’t know the answer to your question. What I know is: any YouTube videos that I embedded a long time ago - before Miro changed things - ARE playable in presentation mode. But embedding a new YouTube video -- either directly with cut-and-paste or else as an IFRAME -- and I get the behavior you said, not possible to play in presentation mode. Or . . . with the right combination of parameters, they DO play - but sadly without sound.
Cheers, Ken
Hi @Moltas Carlsson and @Kenneth Ritley I tested this on my end and was able to play the video even in Presentation Mode — you just need to click the play button on the embedded video itself to start playback.
If that’s not working for you, it could be a browser-related issue or something specific to how the video was embedded.
@Moltas Carlsson To help us better understand the issues, would you be open to sharing a short screen recording showing the behavior you observed?
That will help us determine whether it's a bug, a setting, or something else entirely. Happy to guide you through next steps either way!
Hi @Eca
I made a little Loom video. As you can see, NOW I can start the video with a double-click from my Mac Miro App - but this was NOT happening last time I tried. Admittedly, the default is that it takes over focus of the whole monitor . . . but previously, the video was not playing at all. If I press ESCAPE, then the focus mode disappears and the playing video KEEPS PLAYING in the Miro board - which is exactly the behavior I would expect.
So either Miro changed something or -- as usual -- the “ghost in the machine” is responsible!
Hope this helps!
Cheers, Ken
Thanks for this, @Kenneth Ritley!
When I tested it on my end, the embedded YouTube video played even in Presentation mode — I’ve attached a short screen recording to show how it worked on my setup.
Could you please try clearing the Miro app cache or resetting the app data to see if that resolves the issue? Let us know how it goes!
