Need help with Miro Activity for students

I am an adjunct faculty at a community college. I used my free account to create an ice-breaker activity board for students using a template. I am new to Miro. I invited students to the board through emails. The students are having a hard time as they are getting a message for upgrading their account. What can I do? It seems as if some created copies of my board instead of adding post-its, does any one know how to best support them? Also, what are the tutorials I can send to them. Need Immediate Help!

HI @majhair, thanks for reaching out!

This usually happens when:

  • Students sign up for their own Miro accounts instead of joining as guests, or

  • They click “Make a copy” of the board (copies require an account and can trigger upgrade prompts)

You can:

  1. Check board sharing settings
  • Open Share → set access to Anyone with the link → Can edit

  • This allows students to join as guests without upgrading

  1. Ask students NOT to make a copy. Instruct them to work directly on the original board

You can refer to our Miro Help Center and Youtube content for tutorials.
