I'm trying to figure out what kind of subscription plan would be suitable for my office. So far, only three people use Miro as a discussion tool, and they are all from the same division.

So I'm thinking of purchasing a subscription plan for 3 Business accounts only, considering the intensity of use and the costs involved. We can still invite other employee accounts to discuss as Guests with the Business Plan. What do you think?

I'm also trying to find out more about:

  1. In the Free Plan, will all accounts with the same email domain be automatically added to the same team?
  1. If so, what happens if some accounts with the same email domain have a paid subscription (Starter/Business) while others are on the Free Plan?
  2. Can this automation feature be disabled from the start and all Free Plan accounts be switched to Guest status?

  1. Can someone who has had a Free Plan account from the beginning remain on the Free Plan if they are only invited as a Guest going forward?

If anyone can help answer these questions, I would be very grateful.

@Sasha Akashi Welcome to the Community!

No.

Can someone who has had a Free Plan account from the beginning remain on the Free Plan if they are only invited as a Guest going forward?

Yes.

Here’s a summary of how this could go:

  1. You create a new subscription – Business Plan is the way to go as you could add Free Plan users as Guest editors (more on Guests here). Here are a few ways to create a new scription, so that you don’t have to upgrade any existing Free Plan teams:
  2. When creating the new Business Plan subscription, give the new team* a name and select your licenses/seats – you had mentioned 3:

*You can rename the team later. Plus, the Business Plan supports unlimited teams, so you can create more, e.g., one team for each paid member. Each member could be added to all teams – there is no additional cost.

You now have a Business Plan where you are currently the only full, paid member (you have two licenses/seats left to add two other people).

You are also the only Company Admin of the Business Plan, so you should grant at least one more person this role (once you add more people) so they could assist with administration of the subscription in your absence.

Next, you create any addition teams (optional).

Now you add your other two full licensed members. If you have more than one team set up,  you’ll be asked to specify the team. You should also grant them the Team Admin role – don't worry, they won’t be able to increase your paid license count as long as you disable the Anyone can expand the team option:

Moving Boards to the new Business Plan

Only board owners can move boards. So, if the users in the Business Plan are not the owner of the board, they can do the following:

  1. Duplicate the board – note: Anyone can duplicate any board in a Free Plan.
  2. Move it to a Business Plan team.

I think that should cover it. Let us know if you have any more questions!
