I drag and dropped a bunch of pictures on my board and placed them inside a frame. This morning when I opened my board again some of the images were missing (there were approximately 5 pictures, 3 of them are gone).

I have no idea where all the work went, I am on the free plan.

Same bug here, some of my images went missing

HI @nilpointer - I am not sure if I can help you. But I can say this happens for me from time to time. Reason: when you add an image Miro needs to upload it to the server and ensure the object is in your browser or app (2 jobs). This depends (in my experience) not only on my computer but on Miro’s backend “readiness.” Just yesterday I was trying to insert a PDF - it took 2 attempts as I was on a slow connection.

So what I’ve learned to do it, whenever I upload things that are big - WAIT before leaving Miro. Sometimes just shrink the browser or app without killing the window or app. Or do a hard refresh e.g. CMND-R just to double check that the images have been loaded.

Hope this helps!

Hello Kenneth,

thanks for your reply, my images were about 1 MB and I never left Miro, until the morning after when I refreshed the page. I also worked with them for quite a while to rearrange and organize them inside the frame.

Hi @nilpointer, thanks for reporting this and I’m sorry to hear you lost part of your work.

On the free plan, images should still remain on the board once they’ve fully uploaded, so if they’ve disappeared after a refresh there are a couple of things worth checking:

  • As Kenneth mentioned, images need to fully sync to Miro’s servers. If the upload was interrupted (e.g. connection issues, closing the tab too quickly), the objects might not have been saved.

  • If the board belongs to a paid team, you could try restoring from board version history. On the free plan, version history isn’t available, but you can still check the board activity log. This will show if any images were deleted or moved (either by you or another collaborator).

  • Could you try opening the board in a different browser or device to confirm if the images are missing everywhere, or only in one session?

  • If anyone else has edit access to the board, they could also have moved or deleted the images.

Going forward, I’d recommend giving large uploads a little extra time to finish syncing before closing Miro, and doing a quick refresh after upload to confirm the content sticks.
