Hi,

I have some icons added to a board a while ago. I can change the colour of the left icon (see image 1) which is an icon that has been on the board quit a while.

However when I add new icons from the iconfinder library I can only change the color of the border (see image 2)

I think i am using the same icons from the same icon library, but i am not sure. Is this an old feature that got removed? Am i doing something wrong? This is my favorite feature that really save a lot of time for me.

@Jo Swenters - The crown on the left was from Iconfinder, added from the the now Images and icons app:

While the other crown was added from the Wireframe library:

I’m sure you used to be able to do this too, hence why I came on here looking for this functionality. It looks like @Miro Community Team have got rid of it. If you can it in powerpoint why not Miro, disappointing.

Why was this function removed? The reason to use icons so we can recolor them. About 1 % of the time to put a colored frame around. .

Please put it back.

If you read this.

Core functionality.

Hi @Tom_B,

Thanks for jumping in!I just tested this on my end and was able to change the color of wireframe icons successfully.

If you're experiencing issues with specific icons, could you please share a screenshot of the icon you're working with? This will help us better understand what's going on and assist you more effectively.

Looking forward to your reply!

i added a simple check icon, but there is no way to change it background color or whatsoever.
For the basic shapes you can change the background as the post above shows. But any icons from the other iconpacks cannot be edited. I even checked this on icons via the Images and Icons option in the left toolbar, but all the check icons i could fine cannot be edited by filling it with a different color.
So now i need to find a green checkmark icon in another app and import it.
Miro, can this be fixed?

Hi @Martin de Bruin,

Thanks for sharing the screenshots! You're right — icons from the Salesforce, AWS, and other specialized libraries under Diagramming (like in your second screenshot) often behave differently from Basic Shapes, Flowchart, or Callouts.

Currently: Salesforce and other vendor libraries: These are SVG-based icons or pre-styled assets, and many of them do not support fill color changes within Miro — especially icons like the checkmark.

Until Miro updates this:

  • Use a Basic Shape (e.g., a circle) with text or emoji (✅) inside.

  • Or import a green checkmark from an external source then upload as an image/SVG.

I'll pass your feedback along internally, as you're definitely not alone in requesting this functionality back.

Let me know if you'd like help with finding or customizing an icon to match your workflow!

thanks for the feedback, but honestly, for a product like Miro, icons like these basic checkmark or cross icons should be there in the basic palette and editable in case of colors.
