We previously were paying for different Company/Organization accounts before upgrading to a Business plan with multiple Teams.

We’ve migrated all of the content to the new Team in our Primary and preferred Organizational account and want to delete the old company/organization account and teams.

What I’m left with right now is a free account with only one Team on it and no remaining boards, projects or users other than myself.

I get an error message when trying to Delete the Team that says "You can't delete the last team in your organization."

I want to delete the entire account/organization — How can I do that?

Hi @Sarah Hofmann,

Thanks for the detailed context — that’s really helpful.

Miro doesn't currently allow deletion of the last remaining team in an organization from the dashboard. This is intended to prevent users from accidentally removing access to their account.

If you're on the Business Plan, while you cannot delete the last team directly, you can use the following workaround:

  1. Cancel your subscription.

  2. Once the billing period ends and the team is downgraded to the Free Plan,

  3. You’ll then be able to delete the free team from your dashboard.

If you're on the Enterprise Plan, the best route is to contact Miro Support directly — they can assist with removing the organization and closing out any remaining administrative elements.

In your message to Support, it helps to include:

  • The name of the organization you'd like to delete

  • Confirmation that it has no active boards or members

Hope this helps!

Hi Eca,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, the option you recommended didn’t work for us. I’m the only person on the account and the Admin.

When I follow the directions for deleting a Team AND the ones that you provided, I get the same message: "You can't delete the last team in your organization."

The thing is, we want to delete the entire organization. I’ve already moved all of the boards to a different team.

Thank you @Sarah Hofmann for getting back to me! I have your case escalated to supports so they can assist you with the deletion. One of the supports will reach you shortly.

Hi Eca,

I figured out the issue.

When I canceled the plan 1.5 years ago, I was under the impression that downgraded us to the free plan automatically. Since we hadn’t been billed since August of  2023, I wrongly assumed that I didn’t have to first go back in and downgrade to “free” before canceling the teams.

Once I went back in and did this then I could follow the directions provided.

Now I’m all set and the extra Teams have been deleted.

Thanks for your help and follow-up!

Hi @Sarah Hofmann

Thanks so much for the update, and I really appreciate you taking the time to clarify what happened.

I’m glad to hear you were able to sort it out and that the extra Teams have now been successfully deleted! Since your case was already escalated to Support, there’s a chance they may still follow up via email — if so, feel free to update them on the actions you’ve already taken so they can close the loop on their end as well.

Let me know if anything else comes up — happy to help anytime!
